Nuts No Good

Rafi Amit has apparently rivered several players in a row, taking pots after being well behind.

"I just put my money in and I win," said Amit. "These people keep trying to bluff me with the nuts!"

Big Pot From Table #1

The action started on a flop of {K-Spades} {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. The two players involved were Vanessa Selbst and Shankar Pillai who were sitting pretty deep. A series of bets and raises later and all the chips were in the middle.

Selbst tabled {6-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} and was up against Pillai's {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {8-Spades} {3-Diamonds}.

Pillai would need to hit a club as the turn brought a {9-Spades} and river a {J-Diamonds}. No luck for Pillai and after a count it emerged he was covered by Selbst and eliminated.

Selbst up to 57,500 now.

Up, then Down, then Up Again

After riding high early, Stanley Statkiewicz had been knocked back down a bit after losing a set vs. set confrontation. He just won a chunk back after this recent hand:

A player limped from under the gun, the small blind called, and Statkiewicz bumped it up to 1,600 from the big blind. Both opponents called. The flop came {9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Statkiewicz bet the pot -- 4,800. The big blind repopped it, and Statkiewicz called with his remaining chips.

Statkiewicz showed {9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{J-Clubs} for two pair and both straight and flush draws. His opponent showed {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} -- a better flush draw. None of those draws came, and Statkiewicz's two pair held up. He's now at around 33,000.

Man, You Been a Naughty Boy

A short-stacked Thomas Wahlroos was just eliminated after trying to steal a pot. On a flop of {K-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{9-Spades}, Wahlroos pushed in his last 3,000 only to be called by A-K-x-x.

Wahlroos showed {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} and was in sad shape. The turn and river brought no help, and he hit the rail.

Never a Dull Moment

Carter Gill has been either the chip leader or near the chip lead for a good part of the afternoon. He's been involved in many pots, and his stack has been fluctuating between 35,000 and 70,000. He currently sits at around 68,000 after this hand:

After calling a 6,000 preflop bet, Gill led out on a flop of {4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades} and the preflop raiser called. Both players checked down the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {K-Diamonds} river. Gill showed {5-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a seven-high flush, his opponent showed A-A-Q-x for trip queens, and Gill took down the pot.

Amit Knocks Out Another

Rafi Amit has knocked out another player. On a flop of {J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades}, Amit had his opponent all in. His opponent held {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for the wrap straight draw. Amit had {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, matching his opponent's straight outs as well as giving him the nut flush draw.

The turn was the {8-Clubs}. The river was the {2-Hearts}, giving Amit his flush. He's now up to 29,000.
