Zolotow Out

Seated in the under-the-gun position, Steve Zolotow made his move, pushing in his remaining 12,000 and hoping for the best. Unfortunately, the worst happened. He was safe until it came back around to the small blind, who called instantly, tabling {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Zolotow was in deep trouble with {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The board came {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}, failing to improve Zolotow, and dashing his chip stack all the way down to a mere 300.

It wasn't much longer before someone delivered the final blow, and Zolotow has been eliminated.

Jesus Still Alive

We caught up with this hand when all the chips were already in the pot preflop.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, with about 13,000 in chips, was called all in by Gabe Costner. The two flipped up their hands, with Ferguson showing {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, and Costner holding {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and Jesus survived his all-in, doubling up to around 27,000.

Mortensen Crippled

From late position, Carlos Mortensen raised preflop to 1,800. The big blind reraised to 3,600; Mortensen made the call.

Before the dealer could get the flop down on the felt, the big blind declared that he was all in and pushed out his remaining 3,200. Mortensen only had 3,600 left in his own stack and called after seeing {J-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}. He showed {J-Spades}{6-Spades} for top pair; his opponent had aces. The {Q-Spades} on the turn gave Mortensen a better draw but the river bricked {3-Diamonds}.

Mortensen is currently on death watch with just 400 remaining.

Don't Race Within 30 Minutes of Eating

Mark Voss
Mark Voss
Just a few hands after dinner, Mark Vos has sent a player home on a full stomach.

With about 8,000 chips remaining, the player open-raised all in and was called by Vos, holding {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. The all-in opponent held {A-Spades}{J-Spades}, and the two were off to the races.

The community cards came out {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Vos has padded his stack to approximately 26,000.

For Those Wondering...

The floor has said that because 378 players will be paid in today's event and the money bubble cannot be burst with only half the field in play, action today will continue until the same point as last night (approximately 16 minutes into Level 9) or until 175 players remain for a combined field of 399 -- whichever comes first.

Tran Misses

Preflop, from the hijack, Kenny Tran led out for 1,200 and was called by a player in the cutoff. The flop came {4-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Tran led out against for 1,300. His opponent called and the turn brought the {4-Hearts}. Tran fired again for 2,400 and again his opponent called. The {5-Spades} fell on the river and both players checked, with Tran turning over 7-5 and his opponent showing pocket eights.

Sebok Wins a Nice Pot Before Break

On a board of {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, Joe Sebok checked to an opponent in the big blind. His opponent bet 1,300 and Sebok raised to 5,300. His opponent reraised all in and Sebok called showing {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}. His opponent showed {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. The river missed both players and Sebok moves up to around 20,000 in chips.
