Kenna James Out

Kenna James has bitten the dust. All in preflop and dominated with {A-Spades} {8-Hearts} against Alon Shahar's {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}, he was actually looking pretty good for a double up after hitting the {5-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} flop, but was eventually undone by a backdoor flush.

Turn: {2-Diamonds}

River: {10-Diamonds}

Kings for Costner

After at one point today being one of the big stacks on over 100,000, Sebastian Ruthenberg has been crippled down to just 16,000.

He bet out 7,000 on a {K-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Spades} flop, and Gabe Costner made it 17,000. Ruthenberg went all in, and Costner called for his remaining 26,000, or 43,000 total.

Ruthenberg: {5-Hearts} {8-Clubs}
Costner: {Q-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

Turn: {A-Hearts}

River: {K-Diamonds}

Costner doubles up.

Mad Max

Max Pescatori
Max Pescatori
Max Pescatori is fuming like petrol at the moment after seeing his stack diminish to 40,000.

With a {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} on board, Pescatori led out for 7,500 only for his next door neighbour to make the call, albeit after some deliberation.

River = {9-Diamonds}

Pescatori quickly checked, but his opponent was less inclined, peering down at his stack before betting out 15,000.

Pescatori reluctantly called, but quickly chucked his hand into the muck as he was met by a {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

Beer Makes a Difference

This man wants to buy you a drink
This man wants to buy you a drink
Since Scotty Nguyen bought a round for his table, the sound of raucous laughter, raised voices and all-round hilarity and thorough enjoyment of this tournament from his table is deafening -- it's actually managing to drown out the continuous chatter-and-chip-riffle buzz of the Amazon Room. No mean feat.

Just in Time for Filtz

Steve Gross
Steve Gross
As his stack was beginning to dwindle, Justin Filtz has found a crucial double up at just the right time, his stack now boasting 178,000 and looking good for day two.

The action began with Filtz himself, his raise of 3,600 being repopped by Dario Minieri who made it 11,000 to play.

Steve Gross then sprung into action a couple of seats down, pushing all in for 58,000.

Although Minieri passed, Filtz made the call, his {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} comfortably ahead of Gross' {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

A {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{J-Spades} board later and Gross was done, a casher here today, but a day one exit nonetheless.

Skomac Running Well

Michael Skomac just raised to 3,300 preflop from the button, but folded to an all in push by a short-stacked Sebastian Ruthenberg in the big blind.

Skomac is still running well though, his head well above water with 101,000.
