The Chip Leaders Clash

Jose Luis Velador Plays His Heat
Jose Luis Velador Plays His Heat
Shane Stacey raised to 31,000 from under the gun. Action folded around to Jose Luis Velador in the small blind and he made the call. The two went heads up to a flop of {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}.

Velador checked and Stacey fired out a bet of 46,000. Velador then pushed out 96,000 in chips. Stacey called the raise and they saw the {2-Spades} hit the turn.

Both players checked and the river fell the {5-Spades}. Velador opened with a bet of 150,000 and a got a quick call from Stacey. Velador showed {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} for the rivered full house and Stacey mucked his {J-Spades} {J-Clubs} face-up.

Osmin Dardon, who we've found out is a prior acquaintance of Velador, said after the hand, "This guy has fire coming out of his *ss."

Stacey is left with approximately 550,000 in chips after the hand while Velador increases his lead and now sits on a stack of roughly 2,210,000.

Ray Henson Eliminated in 13th Place ($26,732)

Action folded around to Ray Henson in the small blind and he completed. Jose Luis Velador checked his big blind option and the two headed for the flop.

The flop came {10-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} and Henson led out for 15,000. Velador made a fairly quick call. The turn fell the {6-Spades} and Henson fired again, this time 35,000. Velador pushed out the call. The river came the {J-Hearts}. Henson looked at the board, and then announced, "Eighty thousand," as he pushed out the bet.

Velador quickly retorted, "All in."

Henson shook his head and went into the tank. He eventually made a reluctant call and was shown {J-Clubs} {4-Spades} by Velador. He stared down at his cards intently, as though he could somehow change them. He looked over to Velador and said, "You're on fire," as he tossed his {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} into the muck.

Ray Henson was eliminated in 13th place and will collect $26,732 for his efforts. Jose Luis Velador meanwhile is still the dominant chip leader and now sits on a stack of 1,807,000.

Court Harrington Eliminated in 14th Place ($26,732)

Court Harrington - 14th Place
Court Harrington - 14th Place
Chip leader Jose Luis Velador opened for a 42,000 raise from late position, Court Harrington moved all in for 175,000 from the big blind and Velador made the call.

Harrington: {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}

Velador: {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

Harrington had Velador dominated and was no doubt pleased when the flop came down {10-Hearts} {5-Spades} {3-Clubs}. The {Q-Hearts} on the turn paired up Harrington, but gave Velador the nut flush draw. The river was the {2-Hearts}, a disaster for Harrington. Velador made his flush and Harrington was ousted in 14th place. He'll take home $26,732 for his finish.

After the hand, Velador was up to 1,525,000.

Shane Stacey = Limp-Fest Winner

Dean Bui limped in from the cutoff, Shane Stacey limped on the button, Jae Chung completed the small blind and Justin Huffman checked the big blind. The flop was {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} {5-Hearts}. The blinds checked, Bui bet 30,000, Stacey raised to 85,000, the blinds folded and Bui called. The turn was the {6-Hearts}. Bui checked, Stacey bet 110,000 and Bui folded, surrendering a nice pot to Stacey.

Scott Kahler Eliminated in 15th Place ($26,732)

Action folded around to Scott Kahler in late position and he moved all in for 65,000. It looked as though he might pick up the blinds and antes but Joseph Georges looked him up from the small blind. The players showed:

Kahler: {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts}
Georges: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

Kahler came up short on the {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Spades} {A-Clubs} board and was eliminated in 15th place. Along with a story to tell, he'll take home $26,372. Georges climbs to 741,000 chips after the hand.

Joel Nichols Eliminated in 16th Place ($18,869)

Action folded around to Joel Nichols in late position and he moved all in for 51,000. George Lind called from the button and when it was Jae Chung's turn to act, he raised to 151,000 from the big blind. Lind let it go, and Chung and Nichols were heads up. They showed:

Nichols: {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}
Chung: {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}

The flop came {Q-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Clubs} and Nichols maintained his lead. Both men grew a bit antsy when the {9-Clubs} hit the turn and with little delay, the dealer put the {A-Spades} down on the river. Nichols hand came up short and he became our 16th-place finisher and will leave with $18,869.

Zeph Baer Eliminated in 17th Place ($18,869)

Zeph Baer moved all in for 68,000 from under the gun. Action folded around to Ray Henson on the button and he tossed out the call. The blinds passed and the players showed:

Baer: {K-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}
Henson: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

The flop was no good for Baer as it came {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}. The turn was a relative blank coming the {3-Clubs}. When the {4-Spades} hit the river, Baer stood up and calmly headed for the payout table where he'll pick up $18,869 for his impressive 17th-place finish.
