Jose Luis Velador Makes Good Call, Now Over 900K

Jose Luis Velador

A short-stacked David Tashman moved all in from early position for 5,500. When action got to Matthew LaGarde, he reraised to 24,000 from late position. Jose Luis Velador called from the big blind, thus creating a side pot between the two.

The flop came {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} and Velador checked. LaGarde bet 33,000 and Velador made the call. The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and again Velador checked. This time, LaGarde checked behind.

The river fell the {9-Clubs} and after a Velador check, LaGarde pushed out 70,000 chips. Velador eventually made the call prompting LaGarde to instantly toss his hand into the muck without showing it.

Velador tabled {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} for a lonely pair of threes and a missed flush draw and David Tashman mucked. Velador won both the main and side pots and became the dominant chip leader with just over 930,000. David Tashman was eliminated.
