Lederer Wins a Huge Pot

Howard Lederer, Steve Sung, and Allen Cunningham were just involved in a massive pot.

With over 50,000 in the pot on fourth street, Lederer bet out. Sung raised and then Cunningham reraised. Lederer and Sung called.

On fifth, Lederer bet out and both players called. The same action happened on sixth and on seventh, all three players checked their options.

Lederer showed ({K-?}) ({K-?}) ({J-?}) {5-?} {2-?} {5-?} {A-?} for two pair. Sung and Cunningham both checked to verify that they didn't have a low and then mucked their holdings. Lederer scooped the massive pot and is now at 190,000.

No Comeback for Thompson

A few minutes ago, Frank Thompson lost a big pot and was crippled down to just 300 chips, less than an ante. On the next hand, he quintupled up to 1,500, then tripled up to 4,500, and then doubled up once more to 9,000. It was the start of a massive comeback.

Unfortunately, Thompson was just eliminated in a three-way pot with Hasan Habib and Kirill Gerasimov. Habib made trip kings to steal the high pot. Thompson held {A-?} {2-?} {4-?} {6-?} {7-?} for his shot at the low, but Gerasimov had him beat with his {A-?} {3-?} {4-?} {5-?} {7-?}. Thompson's money gets divided up between the other two players, and he is headed to the exit shortly after midnight.

Smith Bites the Dust

J.W. Smith has been eliminated just before the money bubble. His hand read {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} {3-Spades} {9-Clubs} {K-Spades} {4-Diamonds}. Barry Greenstein was unimpressed though, as his hand ran out {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {5-Spades} {10-Clubs}, making him the winning full house.

With the field having been narrowed to 24 players, we have combined to three tables, and seats have been redrawn. As far as we're aware, the plan is still to play down to the final eight players before we leave for tonight.

Bubble Boy

Jeff Burdsall lasted 16 levels in Event #33, but he is headed home with no paycheck. He and David Benyamine went to work in a pot, and all the money got in right off the bat. The hands ran out as follows:

Benyamine drew well, hitting his wheel on sixth street and scooping up the pot, along with Burdsall's hopes of a final table. He will get no cash for his efforts, but Burdsall certainly proved himself in this pro-heavy field.
