Eli Elezra, who had clawed back a few chips to bring his short stack up to around 17,000, has been eliminated. He made a good move, moving all in to a 4,600 bet from Sean Burstein on the {9-Diamonds}

flop. Elezra was holding {A-Diamonds}

to Burstein's {K-Diamonds}

and the turn was a harmless {4-Clubs}

, but Burstein hit the cruel {Q-Spades}

river to end Elezra's tournament life.

The rate of big hands played seems, rather predictably, to be dwindling in proportion to the number of players left as we start to approach the bubble, nobody really wanting to gamble unless they have to at this stage.

Table Three Erupts

Just as it appeared as though the rest of the field was calmly drifting away, their eyelids becoming heavier as they slowly begin to grind their way into day two, the players are abruptly awoken from their slumber by an eruption of drama on Table Three that would put a Lost cliffhanger to shame.

The main perpetrators of the kerfuffle were Shane 'Shaniac' Schleger, Peter Tran, and, nearer the tail end of the fracas, Davood Mehrmand.

As I joined the debate, Shane Schleger was most agitated, his arms gesticulating like a madman as he complained about Tran showing a hand to Mehrmand whilst Mehrmand was still in the hand and vice versa a few hands prior.

All three players were arguing adamantly, Mehrmand protesting his innocence adamantly and saying, "This man needs to see a doctor, he has a problem." Tran, meanwhile, rose from his seat exclaiming, "Don't you use the F word with me!"

Eventually, the tournament director was called over, and much to the dismay of Mehrmand who argued, "I didn't show my hand, he lies", Schleger was given a warning for disruptive behavior whilst Tran and his supposed accomplice were warned for showing cards.

Play has continued, but all three players are still frothing at the mouth like rabid wolverines, so we'll be keeping a close on the action to see if any further arguments ensue. Tensions are currently simmering, but if they begin to boil over again, we'll let you know.

Gowen, Rousso and Boeree All Short-Stacked

Three of our remaining four ladies are woefully short-stacked right now -- Clonie Gowen is on 5,600, Vanessa Rousso on 9,000 and Liv Boeree on 6,000. The fourth, Veronica Castellana, is rather more comfortable on around 25,000.

Greco Tragedy

Michael Greco, a well known soap opera actor in the UK and winner of a leg of the GUKPT, is very low on chips. He called an opponent's all in holding pocket tens, but the opponent's Q-J hit on the river to double up and leave Greco in trouble.
