Martin Hits the Rail

Gray Skies Over Evdakov

Ever since the bubble burst, Nikolay Evdakov has won pot after pot to vault to the top of the chip counts. He has finally encountered a bit of stormy weather, though, in the form of Jason Gray.

Evdakov raised to 6,500 from the cutoff, Gray reraised to 27,500 from the small blind, and Evdakov called.

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Gray checked, Evdakov bet 30,000, Gray check-raised all in for 69,600 total, and Evdakov made the call.

Gray {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Evdakov {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Evdakov had the set of sevens, but Gray had a flush draw. The turn was the {3-Spades}, and Evdakov still had the lead. The river brought the {9-Diamonds}, though, and Gray took the pot.

Gray is up to 215,000, and Evdakov has slipped to 170,000.

Playing the Persson

There was over 100,000 in the pot already, and the board was showing {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Tom Lutz and Magnus Persson both checked that ace on the turn.

The river brought the {7-Hearts} and Lutz bet 65,000. Persson folded, and Lutz showed his {Q-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

Lutz is up to 270,000, and Persson has 140,000.

Lucky Lyndaker

Per Mikael Hogbom raised to 22,100, Richard Lyndaker reraised all in to 75,100, and Hogbom called.

Hogbom had {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, while Lyndaker tabled {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. The board came {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}... {Q-Clubs}.

Mean river for Hogbom, who slips to 55,000. Lyndaker now has 160,000.

Heartbreaker for Todd

Before the flop, Eugene Todd had raised, Christo Vlassis had reraised from the blinds, and Todd had called. Both checked the {3-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop. When the turn brought the {10-Hearts}, Vlassis shoved all in and Todd made the call.

Vlassis showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, while Todd had {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. When the {8-Hearts} came on the river, Todd initially said "Yes!" But then he realized the flush had come for Vlassis and hit the rail.

Vlassis is up to 225,000.
