Beth Shak Eliminated

Beth Shak
Beth Shak
A player in the big blind had left the table before his hand was dealt and Beth Shak sat in the small blind. After the action was folded around to the button, the player on the button bet large enough to put Shak all in.

"I just want his big blind," the player on the button said to Shak. Taking that as a tell about his hand, Shak called and turned over J-10. Her opponent showed {8-Clubs} {4-Clubs} and said, "Nice hand," after Shak flopped a jack. However, the board came running clubs to give her opponent a flush.

"Whenever someone says 'nice hand' it's the kiss of death," Shak said as she was picking up her things to leave the table. Just as she was about to leave, the big blind player returned and sarcastically asked, "Where you going darling? Dinner?"

Master Takes a Hit

Men "The Master" Nguyen lost a bit off his stack after calling an opponent's reraise preflop. His opponent led out on the flop and Men called, then the two checked down the turn and river. Men's opponent showed pocket nines which were good enough as Men mucked his hand.

Queens Good for Pham

David Pham eliminated another player after calling his opponent's all in preflop with pocket queens. His opponent showed A-3, and did manage to flop a three, but failed to improve by the river. After the hand, Pham is up to 19,000.

Gavin Smith = Busto

Gavin Smith was recently eliminated from the tournament in a hand that saw four players move all in before the flop:

Smith (3,200-ish): {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}
P1 (5,275): {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}
P2 (2,875): {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
P3 (1,375): {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {K-Spades} and the shortest stack won the main pot with two pair, aces and kings. The largest stack involved won the side pot, also with two pair, to eliminate P2 and Gavin Smith.

Ask Anyone

Men "The Master" Nguyen appeared to be in a rather heated argument with another player at his table. The argument seemed to have started over another player accusing Men of registering today with the help of a backer.

We're not sure what sparked the conversation, but Men took great offense to someone accusing him of being backed for any tournament and started insisting that, "In all my years of play, I've never been backed. By no one!"

The argument seemed to end after Men stood up and said, "You can ask anyone in the world, I've never played with anyone else's money."

Event 11 Bracelet Winner Eliminated

Phil Tom
Phil Tom
2008 bracelet winner Phil Tom has recently been eliminated from the tournament after losing a coinflip with {A-?} {K-?} against an opponent's pocket jacks. The flop gave Tom a gutshot straight draw but none of his outs materialized and he was sent to the rail about an hour before the dinner break.
