Hand-for-Hand

We are now hand-for-hand! It is only five minutes into the start of our last level for the night and we are just one away from the money. We'll keep you posted as soon as the bubble burst!

Level: 10

Blinds: 600/1,200

Ante: 100

Play Tightens Up

As we get closer and closer to the money, play tightens up considerably. We're only four eliminations away from hand-to-hand, and players aren't anxious to be eliminated now.

Madsen Rockets to 27k

Preflop, a player in mid-position moved all in and Jeff Madsen insta-called. Madsen showed pocket rockets while his opponent held pocket queens. Madsen spiked an ace on the flop and his opponent was eliminated. After the hand, Madsen is up to 27,000.

Celebrating Early?

We're fifteen eliminations away from hand-for-hand and Young Phan, who is sitting with 73,000 in chips, just ordered a Heineken. Once it arrived, Phan was overheard telling the cocktail server to "keep 'em coming."

"Tell Men the Master that Corona is a light drink! He needs to be drinking Heineken. Much harder."

The table all laughed and then began discussing which types of drinks were their favorites, and which ones, particularly, were the 'hardest'.

Khan Eliminates Another

Hevad "Rain" Khan called an opponent's all-in preflop with A-J while his opponent held A-10. The flop came {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs}, putting Khan behind in the hand. However, the {9-Clubs} on the turn opened up a straight draw for Khan, which connected on the river when the {8-Spades} fell. After the hand, Khan is up to 58,000.

Double Up for Pham

David Pham doubled up two hands in a row and is now up to 69,000. On the first hand, Pham held A-K and was up against his opponent's pocket tens. Pham flopped a king and his opponent failed to improve. On the second hand, Pham's opponent held {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} and Pham was behind, holding {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Pham hit a ten on the flop, but his opponent hit a queen as well. The river brought the {10-Spades} and Pham eliminated his opponent from the field.

Anxiousness Sets In

As we grow closer to hand-for-hand, it is clear many of the players have become anxious to get to the money. Instead of constantly sitting in their seats, some players start making the rounds around tables to see how the shortstacks look, and to gander at how the play at adjacent tables is going.

Currently, we're roughly thirty players away from hand-for-hand.

Almost There...

Though we still have roughly fifty players to go until we reach the money, we've been moving along at such a fast pace that it seems like we could get there within this level.

During the last level we lost almost 140 players, which puts us on pace to be at or under 100 remaining players by the end of the evening. How close will we get to that number? Only time will tell..
