Julian Powell Eliminated in 14th Place ($44,767)

Julian Powell - 14th Place
Julian Powell - 14th Place
We're getting to that hour of the night where people are sitting around waiting for something, anything to happen. When a player goes all in and another player calls, a crowd immediately congregates around the table, everyone rooting against the short stack. The most recent short stack was Julian Powell.

He raised from late position to 56,000 and was called by Tom Hanlon out of the big blind. Hanlon checked the {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {K-Spades} flop, then called after Powell moved all in for his last 59,000. Hanlon tanked for about a minute or two, then just kind of pushed his chips into the pot in a very disgruntled manner. Powell may have wished he didn't.

Powell: {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Hanlon: {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {4-Spades}

Hanlon called Powell's all in with bottom pair, and was ahead! The turn {3-Hearts} completed the rainbow and missed both players. Hanlon hit two pair on the river with the {10-Diamonds} to eliminate Powell in 14th place. Powell will collect $44,767 for his efforts.

Hanlon's call prompted some discussion at the table after the hand. Hanlon felt he was priced in to call the flop bet once he called the preflop raise.
