Chris Ferguson Eliminated

Chris Ferguson opened the pot for a standard raise from middle position. The big blind called and the two took a flop heads up.

The flop came {K-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {4-Spades} and the big blind player checked. Ferguson bet 2,500 and his opponent raised all in. Ferguson made the call for about 2,000 more and quickly found out his {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} was no good against the {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} of his opponent. The turn and river blanked for Ferguson and he headed for the rail.

Alan Jaffray Takes a Hit

The stack of Alan Jaffray just shrunk a bit. After a raise to 1,200 from middle position, Jaffray reraised to 3,200 from the button. The small blind pushed all in for 7,875 and Jaffray made the call. The players showed:

Jaffray: {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}

The board bricked for Jaffray and he doubled his opponent up. He now sits on a stack of about 24,000.

The Right Move

After a {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {K-Hearts} flop, and with 8,000 already in the pot, Peter Marr moved all in for 7,325. Lou Esposito said, "It's either {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} or ace-king," as he pondered his decision. "Sorry guys, gimme one second," he said as he deliberated.

Esposito finally threw his cards in the muck and Marr showed {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}. "What did you have, ace-king?" Marr asked and Lou nodded that he did. Marr is now up to 18,000 and Esposito slipped to 13,000.

Ben Fineman Eliminated

Ben Fineman - Eliminated
Ben Fineman - Eliminated
Action folded around to Bryan Devonshire in the cutoff seat and he raised to 1,300. Ben Fineman pushed all in from the button for 4,500 total and Devonshire made the call. The players showed:

Devonshire: {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}
Fineman: {10-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}

Fineman lost when the board ran out {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}. The two had been prop betting all day and apparently Fineman had action on the red flops because he collected one more hundred dollar bill on his way out the door.

Danny Wong Eliminated

Wong had a good-sized stack and it looked like he was going to add to it when he held pocket kings to Lisa Surdyka's A-Q and all the money went in. A {Q-?} came on the turn, and then Surdyka spiked an ace on the river and that card brought an end to Wong's day.

Men "The Master" Nguyen Eliminated

Action folded to Men "The Master" Nguyen and he raised from middle position. The big blind, who had Nguyen covered, moved all in and Nguyen called. The players showed:

Nguyen: {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs}
Opponent: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} and Nguyen's hand was second best.

Easy Now

The excessive celebration rule that was enacted before the 2008 World Series of Poker seems to have done the trick. There have been very few explosive displays of temper and emotion during the events so far, but Chris Grigorian just got a finger-wagging from the floor after he doubled up. He had {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to his opponent's {A-?} {K-?} and the {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {4-Spades} flop gave Grigorian a set to stay ahead of his opponent's pair of kings.

The board bricked out and Grigorian yelled "Ship it for me!", which led to the floor coming over and warning him to control the volume. Grigorian is now up to 6,100.

Can't Win for Losing

Jonathan Little was eliminated from today's event and this one had to sting a bit more than losing a typical race. Little moved in for his last 2,100 and the cutoff called. Little's {5-Clubs} {5-Spades} were pitted against {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} and when the {Q-Spades} {9-Hearts} {7-Hearts} flopped his opponent took the lead. The {A-Hearts} turned but on the river the {5-Hearts} fell, giving Little a set but his opponent a flush. And that was that for Little today.
