Race to the Exits

We started today with 2,693 players. Four hours later we're down to 1,120. After some sophisticated calculations we've figured that we've lost about six and a half players a minute since we started. I know you can't literally lose half a player (that would be extremely messy) but the point is that attrition has already taken a heavy toll on the field.

Anna Wroblewski is Out

After joking that she believed she was going to win today's tournament, Anna Wroblewski has been eliminated from it. She was down to around 3,000 and, after an early raise, she moved all in from the small blind with {A-Spades} {9-Hearts}. The big blind then moved in himself holding pocket tens, and when the door card was another ten, Anna's day came to an end.

Arrested on Charges of Counterfeiting

That's probably what Roland de Wolfe thinks should happen to Richard Kirsch in a pot that cost him 2/3 of his stack. All the money went in after a {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} flop and de Wolfe's {K-Spades} {2-Spades} had outflopped Kirsch's {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. But after the {8-Diamonds} turned the {7-Diamonds} paired the board and counterfeited de Wolfe's bottom pair. Kirsch's queen played, he won the pot, and de Wolfe is down to 8,000 while Richard sits with 18,000.

The Anonymous Ramblings of the Average Poker Player

With the action picking up, the emotions of some of these players are starting to show. All of the following statements have been overheard recently in the Amazon Room.

"That might be the worst play I've ever seen."

"How do you call that...you can't possibly think you're good."

"This is the fifth time today you've dealt me this trash!"

"The blinds are what...100/200? and you're gonna risk your whole stack with that move?"

"I almost called you with queen-high there," said one player. "It was good," replied the other.

"I reraise," said a player after action had been checked to him.

Erik Seidel Has Been Eliminated

After two players limped into the pot Erik Seidel moved all in for his last 1,350. Seidel was probably hoping to pick up the pot without a fight, but one of the limpers called and showed {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to Seidel's {K-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}. Erik had two live cards, but when his opponent flopped an ace he was drawing very thin indeed and ended up being eliminated.

Max Pescatori Eliminated

The under-the-gun player raised to 400. The player on the button made the call as did Max Pescatori in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} and Pescatori moved all in for roughly 1,500. The button called and the players showed:

Pescatori: {5-Hearts} {2-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}

The turn and river came the {8-Clubs} and {J-Diamonds} respectively and Pescatori headed for the exit.

Have Mercy

Isabelle Mercier was all in for her last 1,625 with {7-Spades} {7-Clubs} against her opponent's {Q-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. After the {3-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} flop Mercier's opponent had all sorts of outs, but the {6-Spades} on the turn and {4-Spades} and the river weren't included on that list and Isabelle doubled to around 3,300.
