Van Alstyne Leads as Day 2 Begins

An initial field of 833 runners was trimmed down to 205 after eight levels of play on the opening day of Event #6, $1,500 Limit Omaha Hi/Low. James Van Alstyne returns to today's action as the chip leader, stacked at 39,200 chips, but the field remains extremely tight going into today's action when the money spots and final table will be determined.

Paul Wolfe Still Alive

Paul Wolfe informed us that according to our counts, he was eliminated from this event yesterday. Upon further review, it appears that when the chip counts were updated for today, his name was mispelled in the chip counts and as a result he was listed as busted. Wolfe is indeed still alive in this event and has around 22,000 in chips.

Time to Take a Stand

During the first couple of levels of today's event, we should see quite a few eliminations. With the betting levels at 600-1200, stacks with 10 big blinds or less will have to pick a hand and try and pick up some chips. One advantage of limit Omaha tournaments is the fact that antes are never introduced. This will allow players to wait a few more hands for a potential double-up hand.

Perry Friedman Takes a Nice Pot

In the cutoff position, Perry Friedman made it two bets to go and received a call from two players. On a flop of {3-Spades} {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds}, Friedman bet and only received one caller. The same action occurred on both the flop and river of {9-Spades} and {J-Hearts}. Friedman turned over {A-Spades} {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} for the nut flush and his opponent mucked.

After the hand Friedman mentioned that this event was not going to be televised. Someone then reminded Friedman that he bubbled the TV final table for the $1,500 no-limit event.

Johnson Scoops

Linda Johnson raised it up from the small blind and Peter Placey made the call from the big blind.

The flop came {5-Spades}{A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Johnson fired out a bet, which Placey called.

The turn landed the {9-Clubs} and again Placey called the bet of Johnson.

The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and again Placey made the call when Johnson fired. Johnson showed {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} to scoop against Placey’s {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. After the hand Placey was adamant that he had the best low hand and made the dealer re-check his cards. Sadly for him the result was the same and he was left with only 2,400 in chips. Johnson is going strong on 18,000.

Poker, Poker--It's All Skill....

Richard Ashby just eliminated a player at his table. His opponent had gone all in preflop with {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}. Ashby held {5-Clubs} {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts}. The board came {3-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {4-Spades}. The river gave Ashby a six-high straight with a six-low. After the hand, Ashby's opponent said, "Oh my God. You can't beat luck."

Ashby then proceeded to win the next pot as well to move his stack to around 52,000.
