Huyen Vo Eliminated

Huyen Vo limps in. Graddus Terwiss Cha Van raises to 18,000 in middle position and Vo calls.

The flop is {5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Vo bets 50,000. Van is all in for 285,000 and Vo calls short for 150,000. He turns over {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts} to the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Van.

The turn and river are {4-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and no heart comes. Huyen is out. Van has 468,000.

Zafar Aslam Eliminated

Keoni Schwartz raised to 17,500 from the small blind, Zafar Aslam moved all in from the big blind for 142,000 and Schwartz snap-called.

Schwartz {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

Aslam {7-Hearts} {8-Spades}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} and Schwartz eliminated Aslam, increasing his stack to about 430,000.

Kawashige Doubles Through Habib

Noah Kawashige opened with a raise to 15,000 from middle position before Hasan Habib came over the top for 100,000 in total from the small blind. Kawashige made the call for his tournament life.

Kawashige: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Habib: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and again Habib finds himself on the losing end of a race situation as Kawashige doubles up to 150,000. Habib falls to around 200,000 chips.

The Agony of Defeat

David Ritter, down to just 20,000, pushed all in with {A-Clubs}{9-Spades} and was called by Markus Feurle who had him well covered. Feurle turned over {Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

The flop came {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Clubs}. "That's a good flop, you're in good shape," said Jason Young, winner of Event No. 17, the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout.

It was a good flop for Ritter. But things got worse fast when the {3-Clubs} came on the turn, then the {Q-Spades} on the river.

A distraught Ritter stood to the side of the table for a couple of minutes with his face in his hands before leaving. "Look what you did to that guy," said Young to Feurle. "He's so sad!"

Ritter is out, and Feurle is up to 300,000.

Naimark's a Survivor

Action moved over to Orange #1, where, from late position, David Naimark came over the top of a preflop raise to 15,000 for all 56,000 of his chips. Doron Malinasky woke up with {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} in the small blind and reraised all in. When everyone folded, Malinasky (like so many other players today) found himself in a race against Naimark's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. A board of {5-Spades} {6-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {6-Hearts} failed to improve Malinasky's Big Slick and allowed Naimark to double up to 115,000.

Malinasky slipped to 173,000 on the hand.

Chase Madden Eliminated

After a {K-Spades} {7-Hearts} {9-Spades} flop and with about 60,000 already in the pot William Burdick bet 35,000 and Chase Madden moved all in for 140,000. Two other players folded and Burdick made the call. His {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} had Madden's {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} beat and they held up as the {4-Hearts} fell on the turn and the {7-Clubs} on the river.

Robert Mizrachi Eliminated

Robert Mizrachi: Busto
Robert Mizrachi: Busto
Robert Mizrachi and William Soffin are all in on a flop of {4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Mizrachi: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Soffin: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The turn and river are {7-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The rivered queen busts out Robert, and though he hasn't had quite the same year in 2008 as he had in 2007, he has to be at least somewhat pleased with his five WSOP cashes this year.

Brian Schaedlich Eliminated

A short-stacked Brian Schaedlich finally made his stand and put the last of his chips in the middle holding {A-Clubs} {9-Spades}. Darren Grant looked him up and tabled {Q-Clubs} {7-Hearts}.

The flop was dry for both players, falling {K-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} but the {Q-Spades} on the turn put Schaedlich's tournament life at risk. The river was the {10-Clubs}, no help to Schaedlich, and he was eliminated.

Darren Grant is sitting on about 160,000 chips after the hand.

Thamir Akrawi Eliminated

On a cooler of a hand, Amir Akrawi ran his {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} into Nick Voyatzis' {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} in a preflop all-in. The board ran out {A-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {6-Clubs} and Akrawi hit the rail, while Voyatzis increased his stack to 460,000.
