It’s Day 7 of the 2008 WSOP Main Event, and the 27 surviving players will return today at noon to play down to the final nine. WSOP officials conducted a redraw at the end of Day 6 play, and have now released the Day 7 seat assignments. Here is how the 27 players will line up (table leader in boldface):

Play to Begin Soon

The players have taken their seats and unbagged their chips. The atmosphere is tense, yet exciting. There are 27 players with their sights set firmly on the final table, yet two-thirds of them will fall short.

Last-minute preparations are being made and we expect the cards to be in the air within the next few minutes. Stay with us.

These players, despite the rivalries that will be created in a matter of minutes, have an excellent rapport with one another as they all know they are part of an elite group. These 27 players have all outlasted 6,817 others in a quest for poker immortality. They find themselves in top half of the final 1% of this near record-sized crowd.

Everyone is settled in and WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack is speaking directly to the players about how to expect things to go from here on out. After a few more details are finalized, the long road towards the final table begins.

Amidst all the hype and anticipation of today's play, as well as the possible historical ramifications, we can't help but bring you another edition of If They Chopped It?

If each of the 27 remaining players were to walk away with an even cut of the remaining prize pool, each would take home an impressive $1,448,825. That is just slightly better than 8th place money.

Craig Marquis Takes Down the First Pot of the Day

Craig Marquis opened for 225,000 from middle position and Tiffany Michelle called from the cutoff. The flop came {5-Clubs} {7-Spades} {8-Hearts} and when Marquis bet 375,000 Michelle made the call. The turn brought the {3-Diamonds}, Marquis checked and Tiffany bet 500,000. Marquis then check-raised to 1.575 million and Tiffany folded.

Craig showed {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} as he scooped in the first pot of the day.

Peter Eastgate Wins a Monster Pot from Gert Andersen

Peter Eastgate opened the pot for 225,000 and Gert Andersen called. The flop was {5-Spades} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds}. Eastgate bet 340,000 and Andersen called. The turn was the {7-Hearts}. Eastgate fired out another 825,000 and Andersen called. The river was the {4-Diamonds}. Eastgate bet 1.7 million and Andersen called.

Eastgate turned over {2-Clubs} {4-Hearts} for a full house and raked in a monster pot to start the day. He's now up to 12,245,000.

Phillips Continues Where He Left Off

David Rheem opened with a preflop raise to 225,000 and Dennis Phillips made the call in middle position. The action passed to Darus Suharto on the button who popped it up to 825,000 to go. Rheem let it go and Phillips called for the second time in the hand.

The flop landed {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Phillips led out at the pot for 700,000. Suharto thought for a moment and decided to release his hand as Phillips mucked.

In the first significant action of the outside table, Dennis Phillips extends his chip lead to 13.2 million with Suharto falling to 3.5 million.
