Throwing Haymakers

Gert Andersen opened for 150,000 and Brandon Cantu called from the cutoff. Dennis Phillips then raised to 400,000 on the button and Nikolay Losev came over the top from the small blind and made it a cool million to go. Anderson and Cantu folded but Phillips made the call.

The flop came {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {3-Spades} and Losev fired out for 500,000. Phillips then moved all in and that motivated Losev to give up his hand. Phillips is now up to 5 million and Losev sits with 5.8 million.

Felix Osterland Eliminated in 38th Place ($154,400)

Action folded to Craig Marquis on the button and he raised to 140,000. Felix Osterland moved all in from the small blind for 1,335,000 and David Rheem called from the big blind. Marquis threw his hand away and the players showed:

Rheem: {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds}
Osterland: {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}

It was a race situation and both players hit the flop as it came {10-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}. Rheem's set of eights was way out in front and Osterland needed runner-runner if he were to win.

The turn came the {Q-Clubs} and the river the {6-Clubs}. Osterland's hand was second-best and he hit the rail in 38th place. David "Chino" Rheem climbed to just over 7,700,000 on the hand.

Cantu Waits For Better Spot

Brandon Cantu

Brandon Cantu opened with a raise from the button to 175,000, before Dennis Phillips reraised to 400,000 from the small blind. Cantu then made the four-bet to 1.1 million and Phillips instantly moved all in.

It was about 4.9 million for Cantu to call but he decided to let it go and flashed {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Cantu is back down to under 9 million chips.

Kelly Kim raised to 130,000 from late position, Andrew Rosskamm reraised to 450,000 from the small blind and Kim called. The flop was {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. Rosskamm immediately moved all in for 2.2 million and Kim insta-called.

Kim turned up {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}, having flopped an ace-high flush with a straight flush redraw while Rosskamm showed {A-Spades} {J-Spades} for top pair top kicker. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, the river was the {6-Hearts} and Kim dragged the monster pot, eliminating Rosskamm.

After the hand, Kim was up to 8.2 million.

Three Times a Lady

Tiffany Michelle Still Climbing

Action folded to Cristian Dragomir in early position and he raised to 150,000. Tiffany Michelle was next to act and she made the call. Action folded around and it was heads up to the flop.

The flop came {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Diamonds} and Dragomir check-called a bet of 150,000 from Michelle. The turn fell the {6-Spades} and again Dragomir check-called Michelle's bet, this time for 500,000.

The river fell the {9-Clubs} and Dragomir checked again. Michelle thought for a moment, then pushed out a bet of 600,000. Dragomir made the call and Michelle tabled {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Dragomir mucked and Michelle stacked the pot. She now commands a stack of about 7,300,000.

Loecke's Jacks Are Good

Anthony Scherer raised to 150,000 from early position, Tim Loecke reraised to 300,000 from the button and Scherer called. The flop was {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {9-Hearts}. Scherer bet 250,000 and Loecke called. The river was the {10-Spades} and they both checked.

Loecke rolled over {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} and Scherer mucked. Loecke is now up to 2,000,000 while Scherer's stack is down to 2.5 million.

Correction to the Benefield-Cantu Hand

In the description of the hand where David Benefield was eliminated there was a substantial error in the betting on the turn. With the board reading {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, Cantu checked, Benefield bet 335,000, Cantu moved all in, and Benefield called. The original post said Benefield moved all in for 335,000 and that was wrong--he bet 335,000, Cantu moved in, and David made the call. Benefield had the straight but Cantu made his flush when the {6-Clubs} fell on the river.

Our apologies for the error. The post in question has been modified and corrected.
