Negreanu Doubles Again

Phil Hellmuth opened with a raise, and both John Hennigan and Daniel Negreanu called. On the flop of {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {7-Spades}, Negreanu flicked his last orange 1,000 chip into the pot. Hellmuth put in the 3,000 for a full bet, and Hennigan called. The turn and river came {8-Hearts} and {J-Diamonds} respectively, with the two live players check-checking it.

Negreanu tabled {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}, locking up the pot with his jacks full. Hellmuth and Hennigan chopped up the small side pot, and Negreanu has climbed back into the game, still short though with 24,000.

Judah Boosted Out

A bad beat story to tell
A bad beat story to tell
Justin Smith raised and Mel Judah called before a flop came {7-Hearts} {K-Spades} {2-Hearts}. Smith bet out and Judah called to see a {7-Spades} turn. Smith bet, Judah two bet, Smith three bet and Judah called all in.

Smith {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds}
Judah {A-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs}

It looked good for Judah going to the river but the case ace and three-outer came with the {A-Diamonds} river to eliminate the Aussie. Smith rakes in and stacks up to 73,000.

Ahhh, Omaha/8 Pots

Scott Bohlman opened with a raise from under the gun. Phil Hellmuth called, and Barry Greenstein raised it up from the cutoff seat. Daniel Negreanu called on the button, in the process putting himself all in for 4,700 total. Bohlman then reraised over the top, putting the rest of his 9,700 chips into the middle as well. Hellmuth and Greenstein both called.

The board ran down {7-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {J-Spades}, with Greenstein and Hellmuth playing for the second side pot. On each street, Hellmuth check-called single bets from Greenstein.

Showdown
Bohlman: {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {8-Clubs}
Hellmuth: {A-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {6-Spades}
Greenstein: {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs}
Negreanu: {A-Spades} {7-Spades} {4-Clubs} {2-Spades}

OK, ready? Negreanu gets three-quarters of the main pot, with the other quarter going to Greenstein. Negreanu survives. Bohlman makes only a pair of threes, and Greenstein and Hellmuth split that small side pot. Bohlman is eliminated. And those two men split the second side pot as well, Greenstein taking half with the nut low, and Hellmuth taking the high half with his two pair.

Short version: Bohlman out. Negreanu triples to 15,500.

Hit by the Dehk-harghani

Came out the worst in this hand.
Came out the worst in this hand.
Ray Dehkharghani, Phil Ivey and Toto Leonidas battled it out on a {Q-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} flop. When the {8-Spades} turn came, Dehkharghani moved in for his last chips and both opponents called. The river {J-Diamonds} saw Leonidas bet out and Ivey call.

Dehkharghani had {5-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} for the high of the main pot.
Leonidas had {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {K-Hearts} for the low pot and half the side pot.
Ivey had {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} for half the side pot.

Dehkharghani on 23,300
Leonidas on 104,000
Ivey on 77,000.

Duke Flushes Do

Annie Duke opened with an under-the-gun raise. The action passed all the way around the table to the big blind, where Cong Do studied his cards for a good long while. Finally, after about 30-45 seconds, he shrugged his shoulders and put the rest of his chips into the pot, not able to raise the full amount. Duke matched the extra few chips to put Do at risk of elimination.

Showdown
Duke: {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {4-Spades}
Do: {3-Spades} {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

The board frowned on Do, coming out {9-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {K-Spades}. After being out-flushed by Annie, Cong Do will spend the rest of the evening on the rail.

The King is Dead, Long Live the King

Reined for a year
Reined for a year
We don't know who the new king will be, but we know they'll be a new one as title holder David Benyamine had been eliminated.

He was very short stacked and eventually got it in with {7-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} and had a customer in Brent Carter with {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. The board was not so kind to the Frenchman when it came {3-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {A-Spades} {5-Clubs} {K-Spades}.

The new coronation will take place tomorrow.

Forty Points for Greenstein

Jeff Lisandro has just polished off the field in Event #16, winning his second career Seven-Card Stud bracelet. After the festivities were complete on the other side of the room, Lisandro meandered through our field, receiving congratulations and handshakes all around.

When he got over to Table 89, Barry Greenstein stood up and practically hugged Lisandro. "Thank you! Thank you for winning that!" he said, showing more enthusiasm than typical for him. You see, Lisandro and Greenstein are in the middle of a heated WSOP side bet, playing as a team against the young(er) guns, Erick Lindgren and Daniel Negreanu. "That puts us 40 points ahead!" noted Greenstein.

Forty points must be good.

Off Down the Rivera

Anthony Rivera raised from UTG and was called by Ben Gold and Jim Geary before the flop came {K-Spades} {9-Spades} {5-Diamonds}. Rivera bet the last of his chips and both players called.

The turn came {Q-Diamonds} and Geary created a side pot by betting. Call. The river came {7-Spades} and Gold's bet made Geary fold. Gold opened {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs} which scooped the lot and eliminated Rivera.

Gold -- 155,000.

Minaya Meets His Maker

Manny Minaya had to abandon his massage
Manny Minaya had to abandon his massage
Manny Minaya was all in with his short stack, and he found action from Pat Pezzin and Ray Dehkharghani.

The board ran down {5-Clubs} {9-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {A-Spades} with Dehkharghani calling bets from Pezzin on fourth and fifth streets. In the end, Pezzin took the high half with {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}, and Dehkharghani grabbed the low half with {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {3-Spades} {2-Clubs}. Manny Minaya couldn't table anything to beat either of his opponents, and he now finds himself on the outside looking in.
