A Double Scoop for Clements

Scott Clements, during Day 1 action
Scott Clements, during Day 1 action
Scott Clements was all in on sixth street in a recent Stud-8 hand, but managed to scoop the pot against two opponents.

Clements tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts} which surprisingly was good for both halves of the pot. He's now up to 26,000 chips.

Sheiky In Trouble

Shawn Sheikhan is one of the not so elite group of professional poker players to have never won a WSOP bracelet. Will today be his day? At the moment it doesn't look likely as he's now on the very short stack.

After betting the flop of {5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and checking the {7-Diamonds} turn card, Sheikhan was forced to fold on the {4-Clubs} river.

He's down to just 6,000 chips and not happy. We recently spotted him "exchanging" his chair with a new one. It appeared for a moment he was resembling an Olympic discuss thrower as he looked set to for a world record attempt with said chair, but he resigned himself to just dumping the unlucky chair upside down in a corner of the room and took up a replacement.

Judah Just Surviving

Mel Judah is clinging onto his short stack after collecting a small profit when he pocketed half of a three-way Omaha-8 hand. Judah was all in on the flop and made the best low with {A-?}{3-?}{3-?}{4-?} on a {Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts} board, as Toto Leonidas took down the high with the nut flush.

The two-time bracelet winner is on 7,500 with Leonidas at 48,000.

Aronesty Announces Nuts

There was an unusual five-way limped pot in Omaha Hi-Lo preflop just now on table 168. Four players made it to the turn, too, when the board read {6-Clubs} {9-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} . At this point it all went checky, until on the river 8c it checked round to button Joe Aronesty who bet 2k. Only one caller for him - and when the 2k hit the felt Aronesty announced, "I've got the nuts," tabling {A-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for what was actually the second-nut high only. His opponent showed {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {5-Spades} for the low, and then slid his jack over to the other's hand saying, "Now you have the nuts."

Can Hua-lves Stack

Start of day chip leader Can Hua is down to just 26k after levels 9 and 10 didn't go his way at all. The start of level 11 saw him lose a 16k pot to Mark Scott, too, with Scott check-raising him on the river on a board of {5-Spades} {2-Spades} {K-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {3-Spades} . Hua paused for a while before calling the final 2,400 - only to be shown {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} for Aces and a six-low. That was good for the whole pot.
