Kenny Tran Out; Evan Roberts Moves On

Kenny Tran won't be around long enough to defend his title
Kenny Tran won't be around long enough to defend his title
Kenny Tran opened the pot with a raise to 7,600. Evan Roberts pounded a big stack of pink chips into the middle of the table, enough to cover his opponent. After some deliberation, Tran made the call for his last ~30,000, putting his tournament life in jeopardy.

Showdown
Roberts: {8-Spades} {8-Hearts}
Tran: {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

The board was a big dry desert for Tran, running out {9-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}. Roberts' eights full was the winner, and he has advanced to tomorrow's Round of 64. He did it in fine fashion too, knocking off Alexander Kostritsyn in the first round and the defending champion in the second round.

We'll have a new champion this year, that much is certain now.
