Wild Thang

Luu gets some chips back
Luu gets some chips back
Thang Luu and Ming "Joy" Reslock raised back and forth on a flop of {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds} until Luu was all in. When the hands were revealed, the flop proved to be monstrous for both players.

Luu flopped two sets with {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} and Reslock flopped a royal flush draw with {A-Spades} {10-Spades} {10-Hearts} {9-Clubs}.

The turn came the {7-Clubs} as Luu yelled, "Pair the board!"

The river produced the {K-Clubs} and gave Luu quads and the pot. He doubled all the way back up to 500,000 chips on this hand.

Jordan Poor

All smiles for Reslock
All smiles for Reslock
Ming "Joy" Reslock raised from the button after action folded to her and Jordan Rich reraised from the small blind. Reslock called.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {5-Spades} between the two players. Joy fired a raise after Rich led with a bet. Rich called.

The {7-Hearts} fell on the turn, qualifying the board for a low hand. Reslock bet after Rich checked to her. Rich called again.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} to pair the board and Rich checked again. Joy fired a bet and Rich called.

"Queens up and a lock low," announced Reslock.

"Queens and what draw?" questioned Rich.

Reslock turned up {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {J-Spades} {2-Diamonds} to best Rich's {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} {9-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} in both the high half and the low half of the pot. Rich was left with a measly 35,000 chips.

Rich Talk

Jordan Rich didn't take that last beat too well. After the hand, Ed Smith and Thang Luu shared an off-hand comment, and Rich assumed they were talking about him.

Smith said it was nothing, but Rich wouldn't let the matter go. "You said something about 26-year olds and poker players. What was it?"

"Nothing," Smith said.

Rich kept pressing the matter and Smith finally suggested he go read a book.

"Which one?" Rich asked.

"Anyone you want," Smith responded.

Not happy with the response, Rich then challenged Smith to play heads up after the tournament. Smith laughed him off and turned to a young spectator at the rail.

"If you ever act that way, I'll slap ya," Smith said laughing.

Jordan Rich Eliminated in 6th Place ($40,612)

Jordan Rich - 6th Place
Jordan Rich - 6th Place
Just minutes after doubling up by taking the low half of the pot in three-way action, Rich found himself all in again. This time, he was up against just one single preflop raiser in Thang Luu.

Showdown
Luu: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}
Rich: {K-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Hearts}

The flop came down {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} to give Rich some outs to make a low and lock up half of this pot. The turn was a bad card for him when the {7-Clubs} fell off. The {7-Hearts} hit the felt on the river, giving Luu a full house and making Rich our sixth-place finisher.

Five Alive

Here are the chip counts for the remaining five players.

Robert Price - 2,000,000
Ming "Joy" Reslock - 1,050,000
Thang Luu - 600,000
Ed Smith - 300,000
Pascal Leyu - 100,000

Luu is still looking for back to back titles after making this final table three years in a row!

Pascal Leyo Eliminated 5th ($53,293)

Before his big blind, Pascal Leyo announced he would push all in with any ace. When he looked at his hand, he started begging Thang Luu to raise.

"Come on, put it in," Leyo implored.

Luu didn't bite, but Ming Reslock did. Pascal then announced he was playing blind. Reslock turned over {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} while Leyo showed {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Reslock scooped with three 2s and an ace kicker, sending Leyo home in fifth place with $53,293.

No Money for New Designs

They've put the Champion's bracelet on the final table next to Thang Luu, last year's winner in this event.

Luu gave it a quick look and said, "It's the same as last year. They changed the 8 to a 9, but it's the same."

Still, we don't think he'll complain if he ends up with a matching pair.
