Van Marcus Eliminated in 7th Place ($55,687)

Pots get so big so quickly in PLO. Lose two or three and you're out.

Rifat Palevic, Sorel Mizzi and Dan Hindin all limped into the pot preflop for 24,000 chips in front of Van Marcus. Marcus counted down his stack (about 200,000) and then raised pot, 156,000. Action passed to Cliff Josephy in the small blind, who reraised pot. Once everyone else folded and Marcus called all in, we knew exactly what kind of a hand to expect from Josephy.

Josephy: {A-Spades}

Marcus:

It was single-suited aces for Josephy against single-suited kings for Marcus -- in the same suit. That left Marcus drawing thin on a flop of {8-Spades}

. He was out in 7th place after a turn {2-Diamonds}

Dan Hindin Doubles Through Van Marcus

Ramos limped from middle position as did Sorel Mizzi from the button. Dan Hindin completed from the small blind and Van Marcus checked his big blind.

The flop came flop {K-Clubs}

. Dan Hindin lead out for 80,000 and Van Marcus raises pot to 336,000. Ramos and Mizzi get out of the way and Hindin moved all in and Marcus called.

Hindin: {K-Hearts}

Van Marcus: {A-Diamonds}

The turn kept the set of queens of Van Marcus safe with the {J-Diamonds}

.

However, the river was the {4-Clubs}

giving Hindin a club flush.

Hindin doubles up to 900,000.

Mizzi, Mizzi, Mizzi?

Our heads are starting to hurt from the math that some of these players are making us do. Cliff Josephy started the preflop action with a raise to 70,000. Richard Austin called. From the small blind, Sorel Mizzi called a pot-sized re-raise. Using all of our fingers and toes (and some toothpicks we found under the table), we came up with a total of 304,000. That was too much for Josephy and Austin.

Richard Austin Attacks A Weak Bet From Palevic

Filipe Ramos limped from late position as did Richard Austin from the button. Rifate raises pot (about 120,000) from the small big blind and both Ramos and Austin called. The flop came {J-Spades}

. Rifat Palevic took his time before betting 90,000. Ramos mucked his hand and Austin immediately raises pot (618,000).

Rifat folded his hand and Austin wins the pot.

Small, Cautious Pots

Small ball pots are the name of the game today. We can't tell you how many pots have been limped four-, five- or six-ways. With only seven players still at the table, it was another five-way limp on a flop of {2-Spades}

. When the turn fell {k-Clubs}

, small blind Cliff Josephy led out for 60,000. Rifat Palevic was the only caller.

On the river {8-Diamonds}

Josephy fired again, this time for 120,000 chips. That bet produced a fold from Palevic, allowing Josephy to win the pot.

Peter Jetten Eliminated in 8th Place ($48,112)

Richard Austin limped into the pot from early position. Dan Hindin and Van Marcus also called. Jetten completes from the small blind and Ramos checks his option.

The flop came {K-Spades}

and action checked around. The turn brought the {10-Diamonds}

. Jetten bet 100,000 from the small blind. Ramos folded from the big blind and Austin reraised to 350,000. Dan Hindin and Van Marcus both got out of the way.

Action was back on Peter Jetten, who moved all in after about 20 seconds of thought. Austin called.

Jetten:

The river brings the {9-Hearts}

allowing Austin's top set to hold.

He wins the pot and eliminates Peter Jetten in 8th place.
