Aces Cracked for Lindgren

There has been a long, sad line of players who've had their aces busted in today's tournament, and Erick Lindgren is down to 8,000 after joining the list.

To be fair, he seemed to have just limped in preflop, but the {8-Spades} {2-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} looked harmless enough so he bet, getting one caller. Come the {K-Spades} turn, his caller bet out from the big blind and Lindgren raised; the big blind reraised and Lindgren flatted.

Both players checked the {9-Spades} river and Lindgren flipped his {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} -- only to discover that he was losing to his opponent's {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Sands More of a Dune Now

David Sands is our new chip leader on 31,000.

The most recent chunk of that fat stack was acquired by knocking out Paul Darden, who got his last chip in on the river of a {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} board. Unluckily for him, Sands was holding {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} and Darden couldn't beat queens full and hit the rail.

Juanda Out of Here Already

And after the briefest of brief spells at the felt, Juanda has busted out of this tournament too.

He went all in under the gun with his unthreatening 400 chips and got called in three spots; his opponents checked down the {Q-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {10-Spades} board until one of them showed {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} to win the pot. Juanda mucked and was on his way.

We're in the Monette

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new chip leader, and it is Mr. John Monette.

Already a big stack, he raised in late position and got a call from the big blind. Monette played the hand aggressively, betting to a check on the {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs} flop and raising to a bet on the {Q-Diamonds} turn. Both players cagily checked the {10-Clubs} river though, but Monette had nothing to fear. His opponent couldn't beat Monette's pocket {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and he's now up to 30,000.

Juanda Explain Yourself?

Fresh after being absolutely the last player to take his seat in the $10,000 Limit Hold'em the other day, John Juanda has done it again -- he seems to have popped in for one of his brief post-dinner short stack mini-appearances.

Wherever he spent the rest of his day, he now has 400 chips.
