De Wolfe Hits Mercier with a Club

Not a real club mind you, or indeed any other sort of bludgeoning device such a maul or even a +1 mace.

Sandra Naujoks limped and Berry Johnston made it 1,200 to play. Roland De Wolfe called on the button and Jason Mercier called from the small blind. Naujoks passed and the remaining three players saw a {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} flop.

The board was checked to De Wolfe who fired a bet on to see Jason Mercier check-raise pot behind him. Johnston folded and De Wolfe quickly called all in with {K-Spades} {5-Spades} {J-Clubs} {8-Clubs} and Mercier flipped {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades}.

The turn was the {7-Clubs} which meant De Wolfe could now win with a king, a six or a club while Mercier could win with an offsuit nine, ten or ace.

The river was a ten, but it was the {10-Clubs} completing the backdoor flush for De Wolfe in this battle of Omaha bracelet winners as he doubled through.
