Monnette Takes a Dive

John Monnette and Patrice Boudet made it to the river of a {6-Clubs} {10-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {2-Clubs} board when Boudet announced raise. "Raise?" said Monnette. "I checked." Some brief working out of what was going on. "Oh, then I call," said Monnette, but then an, "Oh my god, how do you lose with these hands?" as what looked like {A-Spades} {6-Spades} {Q-?} {J-?} in his hand lost on all fronts to Boudet's {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {2-Spades} {4-Spades}.

Monnette's down to 100,000.

Jamshidi's Turn in the Middle

Sirous Jamshidi put in the first raise and the last call but wound up with absolutely no part of the pot. He raised preflop and was called by Jeff Tunkel from late position and Derek Raymond from the big blind.

Action checed all the way to Tunkel on a flop of {7-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Spades}. Tunkel made an exploratory bet that both players called. Action was checked through when the turn paired the board {7-Hearts}.

On the river {6-Hearts}, which put a second pair on board, action again checked to Tunkel. He made another bet that both opponents cautiously called. Tunkel showed down a weak flush, {J-Spades} {9-Spades} {10-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. It was good for the high half of the pot. Raymond showed down a weak low, {3-Spades} {2-Spades} {k-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. That was good for the low half of the pot and left Jamshidi to just muck his hand.

Flushy Doubles Through La

A much-needed double up for James "Flushy" Dempsey. We didn't quite catch Meng La's hand, but Flushy was holding {A-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {J-Clubs} on a {9-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} to scoop the pot. He looks much happier now than he did a few minutes ago.

La, on the other hand, is down to 35,000 and looking most irked.

Jim Banafato Eliminated in 19th Place ($7,411)

Jim Banafato
Jim Banafato
Jim Banafato's final hand in this tournament started as a four-way limped pot, with Banafato in the cutoff position. He was the first aggressor on a flop of {2-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. That folded one of his opponents, but J.W. Smith raised. Banafato called all in and showed {2-?} {3-?} {5-?} {6-?}. Smith turned over the made nut low and a nut spade draw, {A-Spades} {K-?} {3-?} {6-Spades}. The board came running sevens, {7-Hearts} and {7-Clubs}. They allowed Smith's low to hold up, and for him to take the high half as well with trip sevens, ace-king kicker.

Banafato takes home $7,411 and we are at our next table re-draw.

Victor Deltoro Eliminated in 20th Place ($7,411)

Victor Deltoro
Victor Deltoro
Frankie O'Dell raised under the gun and got looked up by Fabio Coppola, Sirous Jamshidi on the button and, with a sigh, Victor Deltoro in the big blind.

Come the {5-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {4-Clubs} flop, Deltoro moved in for his last 7,000. O'Dell raised, and everyone called.

O'Dell bet out on the {10-Diamonds} turn too. Said Coppola: "You gonna bet before the river comes out, or you gonna wait and see?" He called, as did Jamshidi.

Come the {7-Clubs} river Deltoro slammed his cards down and began to complain about, apparently, the lack of a dedicated clock. He clearly was not going to win the hand. He mucked and is out, while Jamshidi and O'Dell chopped the pot and Coppola got nothing.

O'Dell: {A-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {3-Clubs} {10-Hearts}
Jamshidi: {6-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Coppola: {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {A-Clubs} {10-Spades}

Huuuuuuuuge Pot for Tenner

We came up to Table 152 to see Michael Keiner, Mark Tenner and CK Hua playing a pot with at least 170,000 chips in it. The board showed {Q-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {3-Spades} {10-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. Tenner had bet and was called by Hua. Keiner seemed to be tanking over whether to call or fold. He finally folded, and was relieved to see he made the right choice -- Tenner showed down the nuts, {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. Hua gazed longingly at his hand for a long time before silently dropping it into the muck.

We'll try to get a count on Tenner, but it looks from here like around 450,000 chips.
