Friedman Chipping Up

Perry-tastic
Perry-tastic
In a battle of the blinds, Perry Friedman limped only to call a raise from the big blind.

The flop fell down {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}, and it was checked by both players. The turn landed the {4-Hearts}, and Friedman led out for 3,000 before being faced with an all in reraise from his opponent. Friedman then stated, "I'm probably going to get quartered, but I call," and threw the necessary chips to make the call.

Friedman: {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades}

When the river fell the {6-Spades}, Friedman stated, "Alright, I get three quarters," and raked in the pot to move to over 30,000 as he crippled his opponent.

Lisandro At It Again

Joe Tehan raised his button to 2,000 and found calls from both blinds; including Jeff Lisandro.

All three players checked the flop of {K-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {2-Diamonds} to see the turn bring the {K-Hearts}. Lisandro led out for 6500 with Tehan calling as the small blind folded.

The river landed the {Q-Spades} and Lisandro moved all in for his remaining 11,000. Tehan debated for a few minutes and finally made the call.

Lisandro turned over {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} for kings full of queens to prompt a muck from Tehan. Lisandro climbed to 39,000.

Chopping It Up Everywhere

The action has been quick this level, but there is one major problem . . .

. . . every pot seems to be chopped up!

In the nature of split games, scooping is always a rare but great occasion for any player, but chopping pots is the norm.

As players start to get desperate, we may see some short-stacked players making some wrong decisions and choosing weaker starting hands to make a stand.

Stay tuned as the action is expected to heat up!

Tournament Update

Since dinner, the action has sped up to now see us left with only twenty tables and 180 players in the field.

With another 110 players needing to be eliminated until we hit the money and another three levels in play, there is a slight chance that some of the players may register a WSOP cash tonight.

Tehen Clips Darden

Paul Darden opened to 2,100 from under the gun and Joe Tehan called next to speak.

Both players checked the flop of {6-Spades}{K-Spades}{3-Hearts} and when the {9-Hearts} fell on the turn, Darden led out for 5,100 with Tehan making the call.

The river fell the {A-Spades} and Darden check-folded to Tehan's all in bet.

Following the hand, Darden slipped to a dangerously low 8,000 as Tehan climbed to 24,000 and change.

Cantu Can't Do

Brandon Cantu limped before an opponent in late position made it 2,200 to go.

Cantu then limp-raised to 7,200 to effectively put his opponent all in. His opponent obliged and the cards were tabled.

Cantu: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} to see Cantu rivered and slip to 64,000 in chips.

Jim Meehan Eliminated

You can finally go light that buddy!
You can finally go light that buddy!
'Minneapolis' Jim Meehan pushed all in on a flop of {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

The only other player active in the hand double-fist-pump-snap called and quickly slammed down his {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for the nut-full house and a back-door low draw.

Meehan rolled over his {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and would need a heap of help to stay alive in the tournament.

The turn and river blanked out for Meehan when it fell the {2-Hearts} and {9-Diamonds} and Minneapolis was sent to the rail!

Tehan Takes a Third

That'll do
That'll do
After a flop of {8-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and a bet of 4,400, Joe Tehan pushed all in for 12,000 with his opponent making the call.

Tehan: {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}

The turn {K-Hearts} would seal the high-hand for Tehan, and when the river fell the {4-Hearts}, both players would chop the low.

With Tehan quartering his opponent, he now climbs to 21,000 in chips.
