No One Busting Just Yet

Omaha-8

Our shortest stack in the field, Yan Chen has just collected some chips to potentially avoid the inglorious honor of being the first bustout of the tournament.

After five players took a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} the action was checked to Chen in the cutoff who fired a bet. Andy Block in the big blind and Chau Giang in middle position were the only resistance.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and again it was checked to Chen who fired another bet. Once again his opponents made the call.

On the {4-Diamonds} river, Bloch and Giang both checked once more and Chen fired. Bloch gave it up but Giang made the call.

Chen tabled {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{K-Spades} for the seven-high straight and best low to scoop the pot. He's back up to 86,000 chips.

I'm so damn cute when I scoop!

Stud-8

Martin Vallo (X)(X) {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {J-Spades} (X)
Jennifer Harman (X)(X) {Q-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts} (X)

Martin Vallo completed, Jennifer Harman raised and Vallo made the call. Vallo check-called bets from Harman on all subsequent streets.

Harman tabled {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}-- a pair of aces for high and a 8-7-4-3-A low to scoop the pot. She's back up to 90,000 in chips.

Kassela's Running Scoop

Omaha-8

Frank Kassela opened with a raise from early position before Jani Sointula popped it up. Eli Elezra was happy to call three bets cold on the button as David Chiu came along from the big blind. Kassela also called and they saw a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Action checked to Sointula who bet with all three opponents making the call. The turn was the {J-Spades} and this time Chiu led out with a bet from the big blind. Kassela and Sointula called as Elezra decided to release.

The river brought the {4-Spades} and the three players checked it down.

Kassela tabled {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a backdoor flush which was good to scoop as his opponents mucked.

Ferguson Flushes Raymer

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
Stud

Ferguson: (X-X) {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} (X)
Raymer: (X-X) {3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} (X)

Chris Ferguson completed with Raymer making the call on third street. Ferguson led on fourth before Raymer raised his bet on fifth. Ferguson made the call and then check-called on sixth.

On the river Raymer bet out, Feguson raised and Raymer made the call.

Ferguson: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} ({Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades})
Raymer: {3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} ({Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}-X)

Both players showed flushes with Ferguson just doing enough to collect the chips. Raymer is down to just 62,500 and it would certainly be an upset if he was an early casualty, as Ferguson is well placed on 210,000.

This one was a little peculiar...

James Van Alstyne (X)(X){2-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs} (X)
Erik Sagstrom (X)(X) {A-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} (X)

James Van Alstyne had the bring-in, Erik Sagstrom completed and Van Alstyne defended. Sagstrom led out on fourth, fifth, and sixth streets, Van Alstyne calling down.

On seventh street, Sagstrom bet out again and Van Alstyne raised. Thinking Van Alstyne had just called, Sagstrom picked up his down cards and was about to table his hand when the dealer stopped him and pointed to the raise.

As soon as Sagstrom saw the raise, he folded.

"I have a low," said Van Alstyne thinking they were playing stud 8 or better rather than stud high. He showed {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

"That was a gift" muttered Nick Schulman as Van Alstyne raked in the pot.

David Benyamine (X)(X) {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} (X)
Fabrice Soulier (X)(X) {8-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} (X)
Daniel Alaei (X)(X) {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} {K-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} (X)

Daniel Alaei had the bring-in, Fabrice Soulier completed, David Benyamine raised and both Alaei and Soulier called. Soulier made the high board on fourth street and checked, Alaei bet and both Benyamine and Soulier called. Alaei was high on fifth street and checked over to Benyamine, who bet. Both players called. Sixth street brought another bet from Benyamine and calls from both Alaei and Soulier. Benyamine bet again on the river, Soulier called and Alaei gave up his hand.

Benyamine showed {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs} for two pair, aces and jacks. Soulier mucked and Benyamine took down the whole pot.
