Ian Tavelli Eliminated in 17th Place ($500,557)

Ian Tavelli - 17th Place
Ian Tavelli - 17th Place
Ian Tavelli raised to 450,000 from UTG and was met with a reraise to 1.35 million from Steven Begleiter. Tavelli made the call.

The flop came down {6-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. Tavelli checked to Begleiter, who bet 3.5 million. Tavelli moved all in for 7,705,000 and Begleiter called.

Tavelli {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}
Begleiter {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}

The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, no help for Tavelli who needed one of the two remaining nines in the deck to keep his Main Event hopes alive. The river, however, was the {10-Clubs} and Tavelli was eliminated in 17th place while Begleiter took down the massive pot. He now holds the chip lead with 27,890,000.

Ludovic Lacay Eliminated in 16th Place ($500,557)

Ludovic Lacay - 16th Place
Ludovic Lacay - 16th Place
While that all-in hand was playing out on the main feature table, we had one on the secondary feature table as well. The hand began with Jeff Shulman opening with a raise to 450,000 from the hijack seat. It folded around to Ludovic Lacay, who pushed all in for 3.09 million from the big blind. Shulman made the call.

Shulman {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Lacay {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades}, and Shulman had taken the lead. The turn was the {9-Hearts}, and Lacay was looking for one of those two remaining sevens. The river brought the {6-Clubs}, and Lacay is out in 16th place. Shulman is now at about 12.8 million.

Nuts are Good

Joe Cada made it 500,000 to go and Nick Maimone called.

Cada led out for 850,000 on the {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {6-Hearts} flop and Maimone called. The turn came the {8-Hearts} and Cada checked to Maimone, who bet 1.2 million. Cada called and they went to the river, which fell the {5-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

Cada showed {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for the nut flush and took it down. He's up to 16.8 million.

More for "Begs"

Joe Cada opened for 500,000 and the action was folded around to Steven Begleiter, who reraised to 1.25 million. Cada made the call.

Cada checked the {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} flop over to Begleiter, who checked behind. The {K-Clubs} hit the turn and Cada checked again. Begleiter bet 2,250,000, Cada gave it up, and Begleiter raked in the pot, taking his stack up to 29 million.

"BEGS, BEGS, BEGS!" chanted Begleiter's raucous supporters in response.

Shulman Raise Gets It Done

Jordan Smith raised from middle position to 525,000, and Jeff Shulman made the call behind him.

The flop came all babies -- {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Smith continued with a bet of 775,000. Then Shulman raised to 2,000,000. Smith tanked for a short while, then folded.

Smith has 16.95 million, and Shulman is up to 14.2 million.

Maimone Has Kicker Trouble

Eric Buchman raised to 525,000 from the cutoff and Nick Maimone called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. Maimone checked, and Buchman checked behind. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Maimone led out for 750,000. Buchman made the call. The river fell the {8-Hearts}. Maimone fired again for 1.25 million and Buchman called.

Maimone showed {K-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} for two pair, kings and eights, but Buchman showed {K-Hearts} {7-Clubs} for kings and eights... with a higher kicker. Yes, Buchman's seven played to wrest the pot away from Maimone.
