Sebok on His Way Up

With the board reading {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, Joe Sebok's opponent checked to him, with Sebok checking behind. The river double-paired the board coming the {A-Diamonds}. It was checked to Sebok again, who bet 4,000. His opponent made the call and Sebok showed {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}. His opponent showed a {J-?}, which was quickly tossed in muck.

Sebok has recovered to 37,200.

Dinner Time

Yes, early it may be, especially by Vegas standards, but our Day 1b runners are about to head off on a 90 minute dinner break.

Back at 6pm, full of food.

Level: 3

Blinds: 150/300

Ante: 0

Play Resumes

The players are back following the dinner break and the cards are once again in the air. We should have the official word on the number of entrants very soon.

Guesstimatin'

As we await word on the Day 1b numbers, a quick look around the Amazon room shows that all of the tables have broken and been cleared from the Red section. And now some have broken from the Orange section as well.

At present the tournament is taking up all of the Blue, Green, and most of the Orange sections as well as the two feature tables -- somewhere in the neighborhood of 95 tables full of players, all told.

Deeb Runs Into Set

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb
In a raised pot, Shaun Deeb took a heads-up flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. After a series of aggressive raising, Deeb had his opponent committing all of his chips.

Deeb tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for an overpair but his opponent flipped {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for top set.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and river the {4-Spades} and Deeb drops over 25,000 to his opponent but is still in sound shape with around 40,000 chips.

What a Croc

Croc of gold
Croc of gold
We have a new contender for Hat Of The Day now that Billy Argyros has got himself a croc hat to go with his t-shirt. We have no idea where he finds this stuff.

Deeb Down Again

What did Shaun Deeb eat for dinner? He's had a terrible post-dinner run as he's just run into another set.

This time he called the all in of his opponent for 14,500 on a {8-Spades}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop. Deeb held {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for top pair but it was top set for his opponent with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} to leave Deeb in a world of hurt.

The turn was the {7-Clubs} and river the {9-Clubs} and Deeb takes another hit to slip to 26,000.

Player Fails to Get Out of Harmetz' Way

Following a flop of {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Dan Harmetz checked from the small blind, and his opponent sitting under the gun bet 1,000. Harmetz check-raised to 3,000, and the UTG player called.

The turn was the {8-Spades}, and Harmetz promptly bet 10,700. That was more than what his opponent had left, and he decided to call with his remaining chips.

Harmetz showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, and his opponent {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. The river was the {Q-Spades}, and we've lost another. Harmetz has now chipped back close to his starting stack. He has 29,000.
