Hinkle's Revenge

Blair Hinkle has extracted some degree of revenge by eliminating the same short-stacked player whom he recently doubled up.

The two tangled again on a {5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop with the short stack's last few thousands committed to the middle. He held {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} but was out-kicked by Hinkle's {Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

The turn and river bricked {5-Spades}, {2-Spades}, and Hinkle eliminates his opponent to move up to nearly 80,000 chips.

Presto Takes Down Scando

Harman in harmony
Harman in harmony
With 2,500 in the pot and a flop of {K-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Spades} , Phil Tom led out 1,200 from the big blind. Scandinavian Anders Langset made the call, as well as Jen Harman. The turn would bring the {2-Hearts} . Tom checked, Langset made a bet of 2,400. Harman would then raise it up to 6,200 total; Tom folded and Langset made the call. The river was the {6-Hearts} now making three hearts on board. Langset would then lead out again for 10,000, putting Harman to the test. Harman would think it through for a good five minutes before finally making the call.

Langset immediately dropped his head down in shame and turned over {9-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} , Harman tabled {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} for a set of fives giving her the pot. She is now up to 54,000.

Will Finds a Way

Will Mitchell is earning some grins over at Table #2. And some chips.

The large crane on which is attached an ESPN camera was just now doing its majestic sweep of the room, capturing those establishing shots that often open a new show or segment. As the break was concluding, the camera eased its way over to Mitchell's table, and he took the opportunity to hold up a hand-made sign bearing an earnestly-penned plea:

"HOMELESS PLEASE FOLD."

Just after play resumed, Mitchell opened with a raise to 950 from the hijack seat. The player in the cutoff called, the others folded, and the flop came {7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Mitchell checked, his opponent bet 1,500, and Mitchell instantly called. Both checked the {7-Hearts} turn.

The river brought the {Q-Diamonds}. Mitchell quickly announced a bet of 3,000. His opponent, probably more influenced by the cards than Mitchell's sign, let it go.

Mitchell is at 44,000.

Grinder Climbing

Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi found a much needed double-up on the last hand before the break.

With over 14,000 in the pot, Mizrachi was all in for 5,600 on a {3-Hearts} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {10-Clubs} board. His opponent tanked for a few minutes before opting to call. Mizrachi flipped over {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} and his opponent mucked.

He now sits on a stack of 25,300.

BOJ Arrives

A late arrival in the blue section is none other than popular Australian and brother of Joe, the one and only Tony Hachem.

According to Hachem he had pre-registered today but had been forced to wait in line for several hours to pay for his ticket!

Europe Represent

A couple new players have been discovered who are perhaps anonymous over here, but well-known on the other side of the pond.

From England, Messrs Paul "Pab" Foltyn (38,000) and Adam Clark (26k) have been spotted.

And Portuguese tournament director Joao Nunes is trying his luck on the other side of the felt today. He's on 35,300 currently.

Aces For Ian

Anthrax'D
Anthrax'D
Anthrax member Scott Ian fired every street up to the river with the board reading {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

With his opponent facing a 7,000 chip bet when the river fell, it took him nearly three minutes before making the call.

Ian tabled his {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} to prompt a quick muck from his opponent as Ian chipped up to just on 40,000 in chips.

Ivey Makes Quads

IT'S PHIL FREAKIN' IVEY!!
IT'S PHIL FREAKIN' IVEY!!
Phil Ivey had his opponent all in preflop. Ivey held {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and his opponent held {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades}, making Ivey quad aces and busting his opponent. The ESPN camera crew caught the action and even asked the dealer to leave the board and hands out in the middle of the table for a few moments after so they could capture it.

"What are we doing, let's go to the next hand." Ivey said as he raked in the chips. He nows has around 80,000.

Hero Call Results In Chop

Daniel Alaei raises to 800 and was called by the button and Joep Peisser in the small blind.

The flop was {Q-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds} and it was checked to the button who bet 1,600. Joep Peisser made it 4,300 and Alaei folded. The button called before both checked the {4-Spades} turn and the river was the {3-Spades}.

Peisser now bet 3,500 and eventually got called by his opponent forcing the Dutchman to show {10-Clubs} {8-Clubs}, except his opponent called him with... {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} and they chopped it up with their two pairs.

LarsLuzak Unhappy

Sad face
Sad face
According to our inside sources (actually Pokernews' own Gloria Balding), Sami Kelopuro is unhappy.

He is unhappy because although he is on around 40,000 currently, he feels that the standard of play on his table is so low that he really ought to have amassed more by now. Must be nice.
