Clements Runs Into Quads

Scott Clements Out
Scott Clements Out
Scott Clements long-standing fight with his short stack has just come to an end after running into quads.

The last chips of Clements were in the middle on the turn on a board of {J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} with Clements holding {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} but he found himself drawing dead against his opponent's {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

The meaningless river was the {6-Diamonds} and Clements hits the rail late on Day 1d.

Game . . . Set . . . Match?

Marafioti knocking down number 10!
Marafioti knocking down number 10!
It took 11 minutes and 41 seconds for Matthew Marafioti to finish all ten shots, but the real question is whether or not he can keep them down.

With just under an hour remaining in the day, you would expect Marafioti to quiet down and try and keep fairly reserved so as to win the bet.

However Marafioti has sparked up even more, chatting more and more to the table and especially Tom Dwan . . . even calling him a fish at one point.

"Fish, fish, fish, nit, fish, fish" he stated as he pointed from seat one (Dwan) around the table back to him.

Marafioti is handling himself in the poker department fairly well at the moment with 61,500 in chips in comparison to Dwan's 21,600 - hopefully he can hold onto them . . . and the Patron as we wind up play for the night.

Quad Jacks
Quad Jacks
It's Jack's Links Beef Jerky time! Not for Vanessa Rousso, but for her opponent who fired a bet of 5,000 on the river on a board of {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Spades} with Rousso making the call down.

Her opponent tabled {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for the unmistakable quad jacks to collect the pot and the bounty of the $100 Jack's Links prize pack.

Meanwhile after a promising start to the day, Rousso is down to 21,600.

Audley Harrison looking to knock people out. Of the tournament, that is.
Amongst the sports stars playing today is former Olympic gold medalist from Britain (yes, we do have them) Audley Harrison. Harrison won the Super Heavyweight gold medal in Sydney in 2000 before turning professional a year later.

He's currently punching above the average chip count at the moment though, he has 56,500.

Powell Dispatched by Karam

Catching the action on the flop of {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades} we found Marc Karam calling the all in of two players; including Julian Powell.

Marc Karam: {9-Spades}{5-Spades}
Julian Powell: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The turn dropped the {A-Spades} to send Powell to the rail, and when the {9-Hearts} fell on the river, Karam took the whole pot while climbing to just under 120,000 in chips.

That's a Lott of Chips

The gentleman in seat 1 raised, only for the gentleman in seat 2, one Steve Lott, to reraise.

Over to Sami Kelopuro in the small blind -- and he announced all in. Over to the gentleman on the big blind -- and he called all in! Mr. Seat 1 folded quickly -- but Lott went all in as well! Wah!

Kelopuro: {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}
Mr. Big Blind: {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Lott: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}

Board: {6-Spades} {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}

Everyone is busto except for Mr. Lott, who has around 90,000. Wow.

Hinkle Gambles but Bricks

On a flop of {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} a player in the big blind fired a bet of 5,000 with Blair Hinkle making the call.

The turn fell the {6-Diamonds} and the big blind open-shipped it all in for a total of 29,875 to send Hinkle into the tank.

He eventually decided to gamble for the big pot and made the call with {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a pair and straight draw, but he would need to improve against his opponent's {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

The river landed the {7-Hearts} and Hinkle doubles up his opponent but is still in fine shape with 116,000 chips.

Gaspard Doubles Terry

Todd Terry doubles up
Todd Terry doubles up
Jean "Prince" Gaspard called the all in of Todd Terry for a little under 25,000 chips in preflop action. Jimmy Tran got out of the way with his pocket fives. Terry held {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and Gaspard held {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

The board ran out {J-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {9-Spades} {7-Spades} to earn Terry the double up. Tran would have hit trip fives and won the entire pot had he stayed in.

Terry - 54,000
Gaspard - 35,000
