Pair v. Pair Knocks Down Hansen

The player under the gun limped into the pot, and Thor Hansen raised it up to 9,000. The limper called, and it was heads up to the flop. It came down {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} {8-Spades}. After a check in front of him, Hansen grabbed an uncounted stack of orange chips (it ended up being 55,000), and slammed them onto the felt. His opponent quickly moved all in for just a few thousand more, and Hansen called to put him at risk. Thor turned over {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}, while the limp-caller had snuck in with {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}. The turn {9-Clubs} and river {9-Hearts} locked up the pot, and Hansen sends a double up across the felt. He's slipped back to 152,000 now.

Juanda in a Tangle

John Juanda
John Juanda
John Juanda has just taken a hit after a post-flop confrontation with an opponent to his direct left.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{8-Hearts} when we caught the action with Juanda firing 7,500 from the cutoff. His opponent on the button then raised to 18,000, Juanda casually plonked out another 30,000 in chips to announce a raise of an additional 19,500.

His opponent nervously reached for chips before declaring himself all in. Juanda had put almost half his stack into the middle but decided to give it up and live to fight another day with 45,000 chips.

JohnnyBax Loses Stack

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy was just all in for his tournament life with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and was up against an opponent holding {K-Spades}{J-Spades}.

The flop was {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, and Josephy's tens were still good, plus he'd picked up the flush draw. But the {K-Diamonds} came on the turn, and he was down to his last card.

The {7-Diamonds} came on the river, and Josephy is out.

Eastgate Eliminates an Opponent

Peter Eastgate raised to 5,500 from middle position and got called by the the cutoff and the big blind.

Action checked to Eastgate on a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and he continuation bet to 10,000. The cutoff folded and the big blind check-raised all in for a total of 24,400. Eastgate called and the hands were opened.

Eastgate: {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The ESPN cameras were called over to watch the action as the board bricked out with the {2-Spades} and {4-Hearts}, making Eastgate's top pair the best hand. He now has 201,000.

ElkY's New Home

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier is another player on the move. He was handed the card for table 150, seat 4, moving him and his 525,000 chips away from the left of Phil Ivey. ElkY should like his new table draw just fine too, as it puts him in position against two dangerous players. Thor Hansen is in the one seat with 237,000, and big stack Jerry Wong is on ElkY's right with 505,000. With all of those chips on one side of the table, there promises to be some entertaining action.

Bilzerian Escapes a Bind

"Good hand," said Dan Bilzerian. His all in bet for 116,100 chips preflop was snap-called by Jamie Brown. Brown's {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} were in the lead against Bilzerian's {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}. But the tables were turned when Bilzerian flopped a set, {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}.

"Give him an ace, dealer," Bilzerian instructed. "Get me the f*** out of here." She didn't comply on the {9-Hearts} turn or the {8-Clubs} river. As Brown paid off the chips, he told Bilzerian that the player on Brown's right said he folded a jack.

"You're such a sicko, dealer," Bilzerian said. "Gimme a one-outer. That should count for the Planters Peanuts Good Instinct Moment. I should get a lifetime supply of peanuts."

Alas, all Bilzerian gets for now is 250,000 chips. Brown slipped down to 418,000.

Quiet in Brasilia

Well, the Brasilia room was buzzing at the start of the day and now there are just seven tables remaining in here with a small rail.

What is the biggest news floating around now, as Kelly Kim, Fabrice Soullier and Nicolas Raginot's table gets moved to the Amazon room?

Whether or not we will break the room before the dinner break in about half an hour. One official says definitely, the other says no way. It's going to be close, that's for sure.

Ludo Plays the Game

Ludovic Lacay is on fire -- he's up to 570,000 now after knocking out an unfortunate player with a less than premium hand on a thoroughly premium flop.

It looks as though the soon-to-be-bustee raised under the gun and got three callers, Lacay among them. They saw a {7-?} {9-?} X flop and Lacay bet; the preflop raiser was the only caller, and they saw a {3-Hearts} turn.

The original raiser now bet 60,000, leaving himself 40,000 back. Lacay put him all in, he called, and was horrified to discover that his pocket kings were behind Lacay's {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. No help from the river, and Lacay is way way up there.
