Gazes Down, Gazes Up

Kristy Gazes
Kristy Gazes
Daniel Carter was all in before the flop for 30,000 with {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and Kristy Gazes was there to meet him with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. The flop was {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} and turn {10-Diamonds}, and Gazes was still ahead. But the river was the {K-Hearts}, allowing Carter to double to 70,000. Gazes slipped to 46,000 on that one.

Soon after, Gazes pushed all in from middle position with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}, and Miika Puumalainen was her opponent with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. The board came {2-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, and Gazes doubled back to 100,000. Puumalainen still has 375,000.

Kings Back to Back For Kennedy

Ahmad Faour raised from early position and Billy Kopp reraised to 35,000 from middle position. Allen Kennedy then came over the top from the button, all in for 124,000. Both Faour and and Kopp got out of the way and Kennedy showed {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} .

On the very next hand, Matthew Lubawski raised to 16,000 and Kennedy reraised to 50,000. Lubawski gave up the hand and Kennedy showed pocket kings again.

Kennedy chips up and is now at 212,000.

ElkY Terrorizing Table 28

With the money bubble approaching, it should come as no surprise that Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier has opened up his game and his aggression exponentially. Grospellier's stack currently stands at about 1.6 million. With blinds at 2,000 and 4,000, the next five stacks in order around the table from Grospellier have 190,000, 240,000, 140,000, 255,000 and 185,000. Each of those stacks is comfortable enough not to feel a ton of pressure from the blinds, but not so deep as to be able to tolerate losing a big pot on the bubble. Those conditions are ripe for ElkY to chip up, 6,000 in blinds at a time.

Ferguson Motoring

With a board reading {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Spades} we approached the table to find Chris Ferguson firing a hefty bet of 70,000 into the middle and his opponent made the call.

Ferguson tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for top two which was good to collect the pot. Ferguson is now up to 400,000.

Hevad Khan Eliminated

Team PokerStars Pro, Hevad Khan - Eliminated
Team PokerStars Pro, Hevad Khan - Eliminated
The man who has brought so much entertainment to the Main Event over several years, Hevad Khan, has just been eliminated within sight of the money.

After a preflop raising war, Khan and his opponent Norman Gautron found their chips in the middle before the flop.

Khan: {A-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Gautron: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Gautron takes down the monster pot to 520,000 to leave Khan with just 9,000 in chips.

"That's poker..." sighed Khan.

A few moments later Khan was all in with {A-Spades}{7-Spades} against the {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} of Brendan Taylor with the board running out {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{K-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Khan hits the rail just short of the cash.

Graydon Bets Wu Out

Bingjian Wu continued his aggressive play, raising to 10,500 from middle position. When he got called by Michael Graydon in the big blind, we saw a flop of {3-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Wu put in a continuation bet of 17,000 and Graydon made the call, taking us to the {Q-Clubs} on the turn. When Wu checked, Graydon bet 25,000 and took the pot.
