Here Comes Ivey

From middle position, Bob Whalen stuck in a raise to 75,000. Alex Jalali made the call in position, and Phil Ivey elected to reraise from the small blind. After cutting out a stack of chips, Ivey instead moved all in for his entire stack of about 1.8 million. Whalen called all in for 699,000, and that was enough to get Jalali out of the way and put Whalen heads up with Ivey for his tournament life.

Showdown
Whalen: {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Ivey: {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}

Things weren't looking good for Whalen, and they wouldn't get any better. The board ran down {J-Clubs} {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {J-Spades}, holding Ivey's overpair and sending Whalen off with about 100 players left. After raking in that pot, Ivey has worked his stack up to a very dangerous 2,680,000.

Look out, Main Event.

Haabak is Back

Jesse Haabak
Jesse Haabak
We picked this one up on the {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop, a hand between Tom Schneider, playing from the big blind, and Jesse Haabak, playing from middle position.

Schneider checked, Habaak bet 125,000, and Schneider called. The turn was the {K-Diamonds}. Schneider checked again, Haabak bet 265,000, and Schneider called. That bet left Haabak with just 367,000 left behind.

The river was the {J-Clubs}, and Schneider announced he was all in. Habaak called immediately with his remaining chips. Schneider showed {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for just a pair of fives, and Habaak had {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for Broadway on the river.

Habbak chips up to 1.7 million after that one. Schneider is at 2.8 million.

On a Ram-age

Joseph Cada opened for 65,000 from early position, Grayson Ramage called from middle position, Elad Magidov called from the hijack and Adam York called from the big blind.

There were four to the flop, which came down {8-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {2-Spades}. York checked, Cada bet 115,000, Ramage called, and both Magidov and York folded. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Cada check-called another 175,000 from Ramage. Both players checked the {K-Clubs} on the river.

Ramage showed {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} and took down the pot, increasing his stack to 2,400,000.

Saout Surges, Schneider Slips

With the board showing {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, Tom Schneider bet 125,000, and Antoine Saout raised to 400,000. Schneider thought for a good while, then finally made the call.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds}. Schneider checked, and Saout bet 625,000. Schneider again thought a bit before making the call.

Saout turned over {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for the Broadway straight -- the nuts. Schneider showed his {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a set of tens.

Saout now is up to 4.81 million, while Schneider slides down to 1.44 million.

Boeken Sets Up

Noah Boeken opened with a raise to 75,000 from the hijack position, and it folded to James Calderaro who called from the small blind.

The flop came {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Calderaro checked, Boeken continued for 100,000, and Calderaro called. The turn brought the {9-Diamonds}. Calderaro checked again, as as Boeken began to push out his bet Calderaro gave it up. Boeken showed {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} as he dragged the pot.

Boeken is at 850,000.

Four-Bet Phillips

Thai Tran raised it up from the cutoff seat, putting out what looked like 68,000 chips. Next door, Billy Kopp three-bet it up to 225,000 from the button. Next to act was Dennis Phillips, and he had that look in his eye. After about a minute-long staredown in the direction of his two opponents, Phillips four-bet raised it to 700,000 straight. Tran quickly folded, and Kopp followed suit, sending more than 300,000 uncontested chips over to Phillips.

That's the second time he has put in a preflop four-bet here at this featured table, and it's benefitted him to the tune of more than a half-million chips.

Vedes Sends Perner to Dinner in the Dank Position

On the last hand before the dinner break, Tommy Vedes and Bernhard Perner tangled -- as they have several times today -- with Perner taking the worst of it.

We picked up the action on the turn. The board was showing {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} and Vedes had made a bet of 177,000. Perner raised that bet to 410,000, a raise that was very quickly called by Vedes.

When the river fell {2-Hearts}, Vedes made a large bet into Perner, for 552,000 total. Perner looked pained and descended deep into the think tank for at least four minutes. He finally called, then slumped his head over the table when Vedes showed {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for a six-high straight.

Off to dinner they go, with Perner retainng only 140,000 chips.
