Martin Lapostolle Doubles Through Adam Bilzerian

Adam Bilzerian raised to 200,000 from middle position and Martin Lapostolle moved all in for 970,000. Bilzerian tanked for five solid minutes before making the call.

Lapostolle {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}
Bilzerian {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

Lapostolle hit top pair on the {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {2-Spades} flop, his hand holding up through the {3-Hearts} on the turn and the {10-Spades} on the river. He doubled to 2.1 million while Bilzerian is now short-stacked at 1.1 million.

Lacay Takes Small One from Ivey

Phil Ivey opened with a raise to 150,000 from the cutoff, and Ludovic Lacay called from the small blind.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Lacay checked, Ivey bet 225,000, and Lacay called. The turn was the {3-Hearts}, and both players checked.

The river brought the {5-Spades}. Lacay pushed forward a bet of 350,000, and Ivey let it go.

Ivey had won a hand just before, and so slips back to 8.4 million after that one. Lacay is now at 8.6 million.

Pham Pushing Chips

Hung Pham has moved all in before the flop three times since the break ended, chipping him up by more than a half million checks. In the last instance, he limped into the pot from middle position, and Steve Begleiter put in a raise to 180,000. When it folded back to Pham, he moved all in, and Begleiter quickly folded.

Pham is up to 850,000 and there's still work to be done.

Steve Sanders Eliminated in 54th Place ($138,568)

Steve Sanders - eliminated

We wouldn't fault Steve Sanders if he has nightmares about pocket aces for the next few nights. Sanders was on the button for a hand in which Dennis Phillips opened preflop to 160,000. Sanders put in a small re-raise to 325,000 that only Phillips called.

The flop came with an ace and three clubs, {2-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. Phillips checked to Sanders, who fired out for 300,000. Phillips then check-raised all in for about 1.5 million total. Sanders barely had Phillips covered and made the call.

Sanders: {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}
Phillips: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Sanders had flopped a set of aces but needed to fade clubs if he wanted to avoid doubling Phillips up. Of course, if you've ever played poker against me, you know that clubs always get there. They didn't come on he {4-Spades} turn, but they did come on the {J-Clubs} river. Phillips hit his flush to double to about 3.9 million, leaving Sanders with just 300,000.

"I got lucky," said Phillips. "I just got lucky."

Sanders' 300,000 chips were in on the next hand with {A-Spades} {3-Hearts}. Benjamin Lamb woke up with -- what else? -- pocket aces and ended Sanders' Main Event.

Slow Goings On Secondary Feature

Since returning from the break, the secondary feature table has been quiet. There's only been one or two flops seen in the first half hour so far and no big pots. What's usually happening is a single preflop raise with everyone else folding. It's only a matter of time though before a clash occurs.

Charlie Elias Eliminated in 53rd Place ($138,568)

Hieu Luu led off the action with a raise to 175,000 from middle position. Charlie Elias shoved for over 2 million from the cutoff and Luis Nargentino snap-called from the small blind, having him covered. After tanking for a bit, Luu folded {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs} face-up.

Elias {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}
Nargentino {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

The flop was {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs}.

"You may have saved me" said Luu.

The dealer then burned and turned the {9-Spades}.

"Oh no..." moaned Luu. "I wish you didn't do that now!"

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Nargentino took down the massive pot, sending Elias to the rail in 53rd place. Nargentino is now up to 7,440,000 in chips.

Tom Schneider Eliminated in 52nd Place ($138,568)

Tom Schneider - 52nd Place
Down to his last 1.12 million, the 2007 World Series of Poker Player of the Year Tom Schneider pushed all in from middle position, and got a caller in Marc Etienne McLaughlin from the small blind.

McLaughlin turned over {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Schneider tabled {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{K-Spades} and the turn the {7-Clubs}. Schneider was down to his last card, looking for another seven or an ace.

The river brought the {K-Clubs}, and Schneider is out in 52nd place. He gets $138,568, and a big hug from his supportive wife, Julie.

McLaughlin now has 3.6 million.

Kopp Gets Some Back

Action is slowing down quite a bit with each pay jump meaning significant extra cash now. The players are still relatively deep-stacked and in no need to flip for big stacks. Smaller pots are ruling the day now.

Kevin Schaffel opened one of those smaller pots to 150,000 from the button. Billy Kopp and Phil Ivey both called from the blinds. All three players checked the {6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {4-Hearts} flop. Kopp and Ivey both checked the {Q-Hearts} turn as well, prompting Schaffel to bet 300,000. His attempt to win the pot right there (if that's what it was) failed when Kopp called to the river {3-Hearts}. Kopp then led into Schaffel for 550,000 and collected the pot after a Schaffel fold.

Zackey On the Rise

Warren Zackey opened with an under-the-gun raise to 165,000. He was called only by James Akenhead, and the two men went off to the flop.

It came down {A-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, and Zackey continued out with a bet of 225,000. Akenhead paused for just a moment before making the call. The turn card brought the {8-Hearts}, pairing the board. Zackey kept the heat on with a bet of 400,000, and Akenhead again called, though he took an extra minute or so before sliding in his chips.

The river card was another repeater, the {8-Clubs}. Zackey paused to glance at Akenhead before announcing, "All in." Akenhead's cards were already in the muck, and Zackey adds to his stack. He's up to 3.6 million after that nice little pot.
