Double Gutter for Corkins

Hoyt Corkins
Hoyt Corkins
A player in late position opened with a raise, and both the small blind and Hoyt Corkins in the big blind came with him to the flop. It brought {7-Spades} {5-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. The blinds checked to the raiser, and he continued out with a bet. The small blind flat-called, and Corkins moved all in for about 30,000. The raiser ducked out of the way, but the small blind made a quick call to put Corkins at risk.

Showdown
Small blind: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Corkins: {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}

The Cowboy was well behind and looking to fill in his double-belly-buster straight draw to stay alive. The {A-Clubs} on the turn was no use to him, but the {10-Spades} that hit the river was very handy indeed. Corkins pulled out the winning ten-high straight, doubling him up close to 70,000.
