Back to Back Winners for Eastgate

Peter Eastgate
Peter Eastgate
We caught big, back-to-back hands with last year's Main Event winner, Peter Eastgate.

In the first hand, we picked up the action on the turn when Shaun Craig bet 37,000 on a board of {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Eastgate immediate raised all in for another 16,000 and Craig didn't want to call even though he was priced into the pot. Eventually, he put his chips in and the hands were shown.

Craig: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Eastgate: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The river brought the {9-Hearts} and gave Craig two pair, but it wasn't enough against Eastgate's trip 7s. That hand brought Eastgate to 370,000.

On the very next hand, Eastgate raised the price of poker to 8,000 from middle position and the big blind shoved all in for 22,000. Eastgate called and we were off again.

Eastgate: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

When the board ran {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, both players had straights, but Eastgate notched his opponent by rivering Broadway. He now has 400,000.
