Welcome to Day 2

Yesterday, 2,563 players entered the Rio for the third $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event of the 2010 World Series of Poker.

After Day 1, only 297 players remain.

We are just 27 players away from a minimum payout of $2,802, and we plan to play down to the final table today. There you can earn the greatest prize in poker, a WSOP gold bracelet, and a cool $614,248.

There are some notable names with sizable stacks like Casey Jarzabek (105,200 chips) and Blair Hinkle (112,400 chips). But they are all dwarfed by our chip leader Venkatesh Gupa who sits with 199,100 chips, 48,500 more chips than his closest competitor.

With the bubble on the horizon and a bracelet in the distance, the action today is primed for excitement. The cards will be in the air at 2:30 PST, so stay tuned for all you exclusive live updates from the PokerNews Live Reporting Team!

Sick Flop for Maier

When we reached Table 368, the board read {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Lana Maier grabbed her chips to push them all-in. Here opponent Erich Moir called and the hands were tabled:

Maier: {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Moir: {A-Spades}{7-Spades}

The {7-Hearts} on the turn was a terrible card for Maier, she now needed one of the two remaining sevens to chop the pot. The {9-Spades} was neither, and Maier hit the rail.

Moir is now very comfortable with 96,000 chips.

Dwan Slips Early

After being checked to with the board reading {10-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, Tom Dwan bet 4,700 into a pot of 5,000. His opponent Keith Ferrera called, and the {k-Hearts} fell on the turn.

Ferrera again checked, and Dwan bet 9,600. Ferrera called.

Both players checked the {Q-Diamonds} on the river, and Ferrera tabled {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a full house. Dwan mucked, and his stack is now down to 18,000 chips.

Young is Sprung

Jason Young flopped a set against an overpair to end Day 1 with a lot of chips, and has done the same to double early here on Day 2.

According to Young, he opened for 2,700 with {8-}{8-} and his tablemate Hiren Patel three-bet to 6,400. Young called and the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-}.

Bingo.

Young check-called 7,400 from Patel and the turn brought the {9-Hearts}. Again Young checked, and Patel bet 18,200. Young raised to 39,200, Patel shoved and Young called.

Patel rolled over {A-}{A-} but couldn't find an ace on the river, doubling Young to 180,000 chips.
