Table of Instantaneous Death

We hinted at it earlier, but we only just now got a chance to go check on the new faces at that "table near the stage". There's really nothing that can be said about this table, one of the new ones in our field coming back from the break, so we'll let the table draw do the talking.

Table 46
Seat 1: Unknown
Seat 2: Shannon Elizabeth
Seat 3: Dan Heimiller
Seat 4: --empty--
Seat 5: Chris Ferguson
Seat 6: JJ Liu
Seat 7: David Williams
Seat 8: Brandon Adams (after an extremely unlucky table break)
Seat 9: Ahston Griffin
Seat 10: Alex Bolotin

There is a registration card in front of the vacant Seat 4, and it belongs to none other than Phil Hellmuth. Whoever the poor gentleman is in the one seat, he must be feeling pretty miserable to have joined this group of late registrants.

The G Makes Big Arrival

One more late registration is none other than PokerNews' own Tony G who recently sat down at table 8, and he has certainly wasted no time in getting into the middle of the action.

On a flop of {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, in an already healthy pot, it was checked to Guoga who tossed out three yellows for a bet of 3,000. His opponent made a quick call and the turn brought the {J-Diamonds} and again it was checked to the G who doubled the bet to 6,000.

His opponent gave a wry smile and rocked back in his chair, "Really? It's the first hand I've had all day..." he sighed.

"What do you have?" laughed Guoga, before his opponent decided to commit his last chips. It was a few thousand more to Guoga who quickly called.

Guoga: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The river bricked the {9-Spades} and just like that, the G eliminates a player and doubles his stack!

Seriously, Why Even Play Against Mizzi?

We joined this three-way pot just as the dealer was putting out {Q-Hearts} {6-Spades} {7-Spades} on the flop. The big blind checked, and Sorel Mizzi fired out 775 chips. Alan Sass made the call, folding the big blind and putting he and Mizzi heads up the rest of the way.

Fourth street came the {9-Diamonds}, and the action check-checked to the {K-Spades} river. Mizzi loaded a big bet of 5,000 and flicked it into the pot, and Sass didn't waste much time with the call. Mizzi flipped up {A-Spades} {9-Spades}, and that's what the kids like to call 'the nuts'. Sass didn't bother to show as Mizzi's big spade flush is good, and The Miz has worked his way up to 19,000.

Sass - 2,800

Registration Closed

With the first break behind us, registration is now closed for Event #17. One of the last minute entries was Tom Dwan, looking to have another go at winning those hefty bracelet bets after coming so close just two nights ago.

We've also just spotted Chris Ferguson and JJ Liu for the first time, seated over on one of the tables near the stage here in the Pavillion.

"Chad Brown, are you in the room? Chad Brown?" came the voice of the T.D. over the PA system. There was no response, but it looks like we might have still one more notable to add to the list.

Bracelet Ceremony

We're set to get the cards back in the air, but we've got some business to attend to first.

WSOP Media Director is up on stage right now for the daily bracelet ceremony. Today's honoree is the champion of Event #14, the $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball event. Yan Chen has just been handed his new piece of gold jewelry, and the flash bulbs are popping as the room stands for the National Anthem of the United States.

We'll be right back.

Beansie Snaps Off DeWitt

Catching the action on a board of {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Jason DeWitt checked to his opponent Josh "Beansie" Macciello who fired 1,000. DeWitt made the call and the {5-Clubs} repeated on the river.

It was an action card as DeWitt checked, Macciello bet 3,000 and DeWitt put in the check-raise to 7,000. Macciello snap-called with {A-Spades}{5-Hearts} which was good as DeWitt had kicker troubles with his {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

DeWitt slips to 9,500 with Macciello up to 25,000.

Mercier Busts Barbero

We joined the action on the flop in a heads-up pot with about 1,800 chips in the middle preflop. The dealer rolled out {5-Spades} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} to kick off the board, and Nacho Barbero check-called a bet of 1,150 from Jason Mercier.

Fourth street brought the {10-Diamonds} and another Barbero check, and he once again called a bet from Mercier -- 2,550 this time.

The last card off was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Barbero checked with 6,100 chips left in his stack. Mercier went ahead and made a covering bet of 12,500 to send Barbero deep into the think tank. He took a couple minutes to deliberate before making the call, and it was the wrong one.

Mercier turned up {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and his rivered pair of queens was the best hand. Barbero slung his cards into the muck, shook his head, and made his way out of the ropes.

Mercier is up to 31,000 after that knockout pot.
