Nacho Liberated

Jose "Nacho" Ignacio Barbero was recently eliminated from Event #18. He was down to less than four bets and got his stack in preflop against two opponents. They checked it down and the hands and board looked something like this:

Barbero: {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Opponent 1: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Opponent 2: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Board: {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{A-}

Barbero's king was no good and he was eliminated.

Monroe's Stack Not Blingin' Today

We picked up the action on a board reading {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Teddy Monroe, aka the Iceman, bet out, then called a raise from the button. The river fell the {4-Hearts}, and Monroe checked. The button bet, and Monroe snapped with {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. No good, though, as the button turned over {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for a flopped set. Monroe melted down to 3200.

Razor Sharp Form

John "The Razor" Phan put in two bets from the cutoff and a player in the small blind defended.

The flop fell {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} and the player in the small blind led. Phan put in a second bet and his opponent called.

The turn brought the {4-Clubs} and this time the player in the small blind checked. Phan bet and his opponent called.

Both players opted to check the {k-Diamonds} on the river, and Phan opened {A-Hearts}{5-Spades} prompting his opponent to muck. Phan raked in the pot and is now up to 13,600 chips.

T Soprano Floats Like a Boss

Brock Parker raised from middle position, and only the cutoff joined him to see an {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop. Parker checked and called when his opponent bet. After the {j-Clubs} on the turn, Parker led out, and the cutoff called. Same deal after another jack fell on the river. Brock tabled {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for runner-runner trips. Nice float. He's got 12,000 now.

Jose "Nacho" Ignacio Barbero is here fresh off of his LAPT victory in Lima. Barbero has taken down the past two LAPT Main Events for a total of $529,330.

Barbero is off to a sluggish start today though, and was recently all in holding {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} against an opponent's {10-}{9-}.

We don't know exactly when the money got in, but the board looked like this: {7-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

The fortuitous deuce on the river doubled Barbero, but he still only has 2,000 chips.

Hoss Drops One

After getting three bets in preflop, Matt "Hoss_TBF" Hawrilenko saw a {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop with two other players. The woman in the small blind bet out, the cutoff called, and Hoss raised it up. The small blind three-bet, and after the cutoff folded, Hawrilenko called. The turn brought yet another nine, the {9-Spades}. Matt's opponent bet, and he called. He called once more after the {7-Hearts} river but could only muck when she turned over {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for nines full of kings. Don't worry, though. Hoss still has 14,000.

Cajelais Crushes E-Dog

Erick Lindgren wound up all in from the big blind after a preflop raising war with small blind Erik Cajelais. He turned up {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and dominated Erik's {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. But that only gets you so far. There wasn't much suspense for Lindgren when the flop came {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}. He was drawing dead after the {4-Hearts} on the turn. Lindgren now gets a break before the 5:00 p.m. $10k 2-7, and Cajelais is up to 8,500.
