Recent Eliminations

As a lot of players start picking up chips, those less fortunate ones lose chips. Some of those that lose chips, lose all of their chips and end up hitting the rail, or maybe the Bad Beat Bar down the hallway for some alcohol to ease the pain. Seth Baker, Dave Tobin, Taylor Raines, Robert Como, Kenneth Wehrenberg and Chad Siu are all recent casualties of the event and failed to make it through level one.

Top Pair Good for Lapin

David Gee raised from middle position and then Norman Lapin called from late position. Mark Klecan was in the small blind and called as well. The flop came down {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and action checked to Gee. He fired a bet and Lapin raised. Klecan folded, but Gee made the call and off to fourth street they went.

On the turn, the {2-Diamonds} was added to the board. Gee checked and then Lapin bet. Gee made the call.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and both players checked. Gee mucked when he saw Lapin's {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} and dropped back to 33,000 chips. Lapin improved to 60,000.

Turn: {4-Spades}

Newall check-called a bet from Krouner.

River: {10-Spades}

Newall check-called a bet from Krouner, who tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} winning the pot.

Wehrenberg Busts Fong with Quads

Joseph Chaplin raised, Kenneth Wehrenberg reraised and then Michael Fong called and was all in for less. Chaplin committed the three bets as well.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Chaplin checked. He folded after Wehrenberg bet and it was heads up betwee the all-in Fong and Wehrenberg.

Wehrenberg showed the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} and Fong the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Fong was drawing dead on the flop, but just for good measure the dealer smacked the {K-Hearts} on the turn to give Wehrenberg quads. The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs}. Wehrenberg moved up to 17,000 while Fong was eliminated.

Quick Exits

Lex Veldhuis, Fred Smith and Mike Weathers have all made their exit to the rail in the early goings here. Here's Smith's elimination hand.

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, David Rood checked and Smith bet. Rood made the call and then the {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Rood was up first and fired a bet. Smith moved all in for half a bet more. Rood made the call. He held the {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives and the at-risk Smith held the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. The river was a blank, failing to improve Smith's hand and he was sent to the rail.
