We came about this hand on fourth street when Jerry Buss' opponent had called a bet from Buss. On fifth street Buss made another bet and called a raise from his opponent. On sixth street, Buss checked, his opponent bet, and Buss called.
Both players checked seventh street and Buss' pair of kings lost to his opponents two pair.
Buss is now down to 3,200 chips. To make matter worse, it looks like his Lakers are about to lose to the Celtics.
Sure enough, moments after reporting that Jennifer Harman had collected some much-needed chips, she was eliminated in a huge pot involving Scott Lake and two other opponents at her table. By the time action got to seventh street, there were three players left in the pot with betting capped. Harman tabled sevens full of twos while Lake bested her with queens full of nines. Scott Lake is now up to 5,000 chips.
Going by the evidence of Jimmy Fricke heading for the door and a total of zero chips in his former seat, our blogging spidey senses tell us that Jimmy Fricke is bust.
Jennifer Harman completed on third street and got a call from one opponent at the table. When her opponent checked fourth street, Harman bet, and her opponent called. Harman led out with bets from fifth-seventh street with her opponent calling the whole way. When it was all over Harman tabled a full house and her opponent mucked.
We're not sure how it happened, but we do know that Scott Clements has been eliminated and Shannon Elizabeth was the recipient of his former stack. She's on around 5,200.
David Williams is down to 2,200 after betting out on streets three to five, but check-calling on sixth and then check-folding on seventh. The cards looked like so:
With no betting on third street, Jordan Rich check-called a fourth street bet from his opponent. Rich made one more call on fifth street, but raised a sixth-street bet and got the call. Rich's opponent checked seventh street and Rich made one more bet, with his opponent calling.
Rich tabled a queen-high straight and his opponent mucked. Rich is now up to 9,500 chips.
A total of 408 players entered this event, and 40 of them will be getting paid. The $550,800 prize pool will be divvied up according to the usual formula, with 40th place getting $2,985 and first place taking home $140,000 and a shiny gold bracelet.
By the by, among our field is last week's Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better bracelet winner Frank Kassela, who is letting girls try on said bracelet. A word of warning to the eventual winner - make sure they spell your name right when they're doing the engraving...
Men Nguyen had made a bet on seventh street when his opponent laid his hand down, saying "I'm only folding because it's The Master." Nguyen confirmed his opponent's decision-making process, saying "You save 200."
