Team Grinding It Out

Alexander Kravchenko
Alexander Kravchenko

Team PokerStars is making a strong showing in this World Championship event. Although a few members of the team (for example, Daniel Negreanu and Jason Mercier) are already out, many others are doing well. George Danzer is up to 68,000. Chad Brown has recovered from some early struggles to climb back above the starting stack. And Alexander Kravchenko is leading the charge for the team.

Kravchenko has roughly 70,000 chips after quartering Sorel Mizzi in a recent pot. On the river of a board that developed {a-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {j-Spades} {6-Diamonds}, Mizzi checked. Kravchenko bet and was called by a third player and then over-called by Mizzi. Mizzi had the nut low and a pair of queens, {2-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {q-Hearts} {q-Diamonds}. Kravchenko also had the nut low but had a set of jacks to go with it, {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {j-Hearts} {j-Clubs}. That hand got Kravchenko three-quarters of the pot.
