Simon Morris= Your New Chip Leader

Simon Morris opened for a raise from UTG+1 and Tom Dwan called from the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Dwan check-called a bet from Morris. Dwan checked again when the {K-Hearts} hit the turn, Morris bet, and Dwan called. The river was the {J-Hearts} and Dwan check-called one more time.

"Top set," said Morris as he table {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for the win. He's up to 196,000 and the new chip leader while Dwan is down to 56,000.

Lunkin Lets it Go

Vitaly Lunkin
Vitaly Lunkin

Kyle Ray raised preflop, and Vitaly Lunkin defended his big blind.

The two men took a flop of {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}, and Lunkin check-called a bet. He check-called another one when the {K-Clubs} paired the board on fourth street, and that brought out the {A-Clubs} on the river. Lunkin checked again, and this time he decided to save a few chips as he folded to one last bet from Ray.

Lunkin is at 48,000 after that hand.

Lisandro Painted into a Corner

We walked up too late to see all of the action, but we did see a pot of more than 100,000 chips get pushed to Jameson Painter. They were pushed away from Jeffrey Lisandro, the Aussie losing that big pot after turning a set of tens. Painter had flopped a set of aces, though, and a healthy exchange of bets and raises dropped Lisandro all the way down to just 12,000.

Painter figures to be in the top five now as he stacked up 149,000 chips after that hand.

Chen Cripples Ivey

Bill Chen raised from the small blind and before his chips even hit the felt, Phil Ivey three-bet from the big blind. Chen called and they saw a {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop. Chen check-called Ivey's bet, then check-raised when the {A-Clubs} hit the turn. The river was the {2-Spades} and Chen bet out. Ivey called.

Chen showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for aces and deuces with a queen kicker. Ivey mucked, and is down to 14,500.

Lunkin KOs Ho

Maria Ho
Maria Ho

Vitaly Lunkin raised from late position, and Maria Ho reraised all in for 6,700 from the button. Lunkin called, and the cards were on their backs with Ho's tournament life in jeopardy:

Lunkin: {J-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Ho: {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}

The race was on, and Ho jumped out to an early lead on the safe flop of {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {10-Clubs}. The {Ts] on the turn didn't change anything, but the {Q-Spades} river did. That gave Lunkin the winning queens up, sending Maria Ho off toward the exit.

Sets are Wondurrrrful

Michael Reed open-raised from the cutoff, Tom Dwan three-bet from the cutoff and Reed called. Reed led out on the {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop and Dwan called. The turn was the {2-Spades}. Reed slowed down and checked, Dwan bet and Reed called. Reed check-called one more bet when the {8-Hearts} hit the river.

Dwan showed {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a set and Reed mucked. Dwan is up to 88,000 while Reed is down to 50,000.

Two Hands of Limit Goodness

Here are two back-to-back hands we caught, grouped together for your enjoyment.

On the first hand, Shaun Deeb raised from middle position, and he called a three-bet from Albert Minnullin in position. The flop came a very lady-like {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, and Deeb check-called a bet. He did the same on the {8-Clubs} turn before check-folding to one last Minnullin bet on the {7-Clubs} river.

Deeb - 109,000
Minnullin 58,000

On the next hand, Phil Ivey raised, and he called a three-bet from Mark Cortazzo. The board ran out {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {3-Spades} with the players checking it down the whole way. Ivey showed up {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds}, and his superior kicker was good enough to take the pot over Cortazzo's {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}.

Ivey - 31,000
Cortazzo - 80,000

Booth's Ace-High Good Against Ivey

Phil Ivey raised and Doug Booth made the call from the big blind. Booth check-raised Ivey's bet on the {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, then led again when the {8-Spades} hit the turn. Ivey called. The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Ivey called one more bet from Booth.

Booth showed {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Ivey mucked. Booth is up to 74,000 while Ivey is short-stacked with 11,000.
