Two Pair is Better Than Three

Jameson Painter raised from the cutoff seat, and Daniel Idema made the call from the big blind to go heads up to the flop.

It came down {2-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {5-Clubs}, and Idema check-called a bet. He did the same on the {2-Clubs} turn, and one more time on the {6-Hearts} river. At showdown, Painter tabled {5-Spades} {6-Spades} for three pair, and it was second best. Idema tabled his {Q-Hearts} {9-Clubs}, and two pair beats three pair in this case.

That pot pushes Idema up to about 1.3 miillion, while Painter falls back under the million-chip mark.
