Fleischer Fed to the Pandya

Terry Fleischer
Terry Fleischer

Terry Fleischer limped under the gun and Sanjay Pandya limped behind. Isaac Settle on the button decided to come along for the ride, and once Paolini in the small blind had completed and big blind Eric Baldwin had checked, all five players saw a flop.

Flop: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{4-Spades}

Both blinds checked to Fleischer who bet 16,000. Pandya was the only caller, and they went heads up to the turn.

Turn: {7-Spades}

This time Fleischer checked. Pandya bet 33,000, and once Fleischer had made the call, they saw the river.

River: {9-Spades}

It was at this point that Fleischer moved all in.

Call.

Fleischer: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for trip kings on the flop that had turned into the nut flush
Pandya: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a full house

With that meaty pot, Pandya's stack was increased to 550,000. Fleischer received his payout ticket and his marching orders.

Captain Scott Sent Off

Robert Scott
Robert Scott

The charismatic Robert Scott certainly made his mark on the tournament with his repeated celebrations and overexcited rail, but he'll now be making his mark on the exit as his venture in the opening $1,000 event comes to an abrupt end.

With Scott flat calling under the gun with {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Deepak Bhatti pushed all in from the small blind for 124,000 with {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, and Scott made the call. "Uptown, baby!" exclaimed Scott, referencing the Bronx, as the dealer popped a {4-Spades}{J-Spades}{5-Hearts} onto the felt, but his request fell on stony ground as the turn and river came {2-Diamonds} and {9-Hearts} respectively.

Down to 380,000, Scott then found himself involved in a raising war with Adaam Daya, Scott accompanied by two ladies ({Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}), but running headfirst into the bullets ({A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}) of Daya. Again, the {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board was of no use, and "E-Dolo" was gone, but not forgotten.

Stayin' Alive

As players begin to creep over the magic one million mark, there are still a few players struggling down the other end, in particular Richard Rice who is currently hovering around the 275,000 mark. Joining him in the bottom three are Nikunj Gandhi (300,000) and Deepak Bhatti (350,000).

Champing at the Bit

In the rarefied air of the feature table - set on a little podium roughly eight inches off the ground - Champie Douglas just ran into some trouble.

It looked as though Douglas had been the pusher and Dmitry Gromov had been the caller. Either way, though, the cards were soon flipped and it was off to the races for the two of them.

Douglas: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Gromov: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Board: {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Douglas made two pair, but it was already too late. Gromov's set of lucky eights was the better hand at the end, and after a few brief moments of counting stacks, it was ascertained that Douglas had been covered.

Douglas - busted.

Gromov - 470,000.

Pandya Extinct

Sam Paolini made it 50,000 in mid position and then called the button push from Sanjay Pandya. It was a clinical affair.

Pandya: all in with {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Paolini: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Board: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

As Pandya took his leave of the tournament, Paolini lurched back into the lead on 1,650,000.

Richie Rich

The inferior hand had already been thrown into the muck, but I arrived just in time to see a {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board lying in wait, with {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} beaming from the felt immediately before Richard Rich. Nicholas Mitchell was the unfortunate victim, but although he was obliged to slide 255,000 across the felt, he can take solace in the fact that he still has a whopping 1,300,000 to boast of. Rice, meanwhile, and despite having fewer chips, will be the most elated of the two, his stack now surpassing the half a million mark.

Michnik Feels the Cost

Michael Michnik raised to 50,000 from the button but found himself facing a reraise to 100,000 from Gabe Costner. Michnik disappeared into the tank for some time, and when he emerged again it was to go all in.

Insta-call.

Michnik: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Costner: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Board: an all-over-the-place {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Spades}

Michnik improved to a Broadway straight, just missing out on the royal flush by one. Costner, however, made a full house, and doubled to 1,085,000.

Michnik was crippled to just 85,000.
