Fished by Fish

Darryll Fish
Darryll Fish

Darryll Fish opened the pot with a 1,800-chip raise in early position and was called by the player in the cutoff seat.

Flop: {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Fish checked-raised his opponents bet and all the chips ended up in the middle of the table, in rather tidy fashion.

Fish tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and his opponent {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

The turn brought a {4-Hearts} to the tabke and the river card was a {4-Spades}. Fish moved up to 60,000 chips and his opponent is out of the tournament.

We're approaching the end!
We're approaching the end!

With roughly 360 players remaining in the field and 243 of these receiving a part of the $3,231,900 prizepool, the question is will we get to the money?

At the rate that we have been losing players recently, there is a good chance, but after years of being behind the computer covering tournaments around the room, it is unlikely due to the bubble fear factor.

However, this PokerNews blogger loves to be proved wrong!

Mortensen Over 100k

Facing a raise to 3,500, Carlos Mortensen made the call from the cutoff to see a {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop fall.

The preflop aggressor continued for 5,000 only to have Mortensen min-raise it to 10,000.

After some deliberation, Mortensen's opponent made the call as the {8-Diamonds} landed on the turn and he checked over to the 2001 WSOP Champion.

"I move all in" uttered Mortensen in his heavy Spanish accent.

With Mortensen having roughly 62,000 behind, he well and truly covered his opponent and his last 20,000.

A minute went by and Mortensen's opponent made the call.

Mortensen: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The river landed the {A-Diamonds} to see Mortensen eliminate his opponent and move to 111,000 in chips.

Carlos Oliveira opened the pot in middle position with a 2,200-chip raise and was called by the player on the button.

The flop ran out {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Oliveira fired a 3,000-chip bet. The turn card was a {2-Spades} and both players checked. The river brought a {q-Spades} and Oliveira went all in.

His opponent tanked for five minutes, flipped a coin and eventually made the call. Oliveira mucked his hand as his opponent tabled {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.
