Chainsaw Carving 'em Up

Stud 8/b

Johnson: (X) (X) / {5-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds} FOLD
Rapp: (X) (X) / {k-Spades} {q-Spades} {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} / (X)
Aldridge: (X) (X) / {2-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {a-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} / (X)
Kessler: (X) (X) / {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {8-Hearts} / (X)

Allen Kessler got half of a three-way all in on Orange 322, a result he was likely happy with, given that he could have lost it all. Kenneth Aldridge brought it in on third street. Kessler then completed, with Linda Johnson and Stefan Rapp both calling to fourth street.

Rapp had the lead on fourth street. He checked, allowing Aldridge to take the initiative with a bet. Kessler called, Johnson folded, and then Rapp check-raised. Aldridge and Kessler both called.

On fifth street Rapp and Aldridge took turns raising until Aldrige was all in, with Kessler calling the whole way. Rapp was also all in on sixth street. At showdown, Kessler table {a-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {8-Spades} for a pair of eights and an eight-five low; Rapp showed {q-Diamonds} {q-Clubs} and a blank for three queens; and Aldridge tabled {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} and {k-Clubs} for a diamond flush. Kessler got half of the side pot and half of the main pot; Aldridge got half of the main pot; and Rapp was left with just 200 chips.

Chainsaw is up to 50,000.

Turner Takes One on the River

Hold'em

Action was heated preflop when Todd Keikoan raised from the button only to have Jon Turner three-bet from the big blind. Keikoan made the call and they were headed to the flop.

The flop brought {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Spades} and Turner fired out a bet with Keikoan calling. Both players checked the {5-Hearts} on the turn, but Turner won the pot with a bet on the {j-Clubs} river.

Turner has boosted his stack to about 34,000

Appleman Busto

Stud 8/b

Turner: (X) (X) / {4-Hearts} {k-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {8-Spades} / (X)
Appleman: (X) (X) / {7-Hearts} {k-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Hearts} / (X)

Mickey Appleman made it all the way to the river with Jon Turner and was stuck in a really, really bad spot. He completed third street as last to act against Turner's bring-in, then called Tuner's raise. Appleman bet fourth street and was called; Turner bet fifth street and was called. Both players checked sixth street.

At the river, Appleman had only 500 chips left in his stack. Turner bet and Appleman felt compelled to call and hope. Turner had a weak hand with {q-Hearts} {q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} in the hole -- a pair of queens for high and no low -- but it was strong enough to send Appleman to the rail.

Turner has about 28,000.

Durrr Getting By With Quads

Omaha 8/b

Tom Dwan was involved in a pot with a flop of {2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. We caught up with the action on a turn of {k-Hearts} when Dwan bet with one of two opponents making the call.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Dwan check-raised his opponent, who called.

Dwan showed {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for four of a kind. At that point David Singer said "Wow, I thought I folded a king." We're not accountants over here, but we doubt that's possible.

Dwan is now in possession of 37,000 chips.

Singer's Song Almost Sung

Omaha 8/b

David Singer is in shor-stack land after losing a big three-way pot of Omaha Hi/Lo. Singer was the first pre-flop aggressor, opening with a raise that Loren Rice re-raised. Tom Dwan took three to the face, before Singer closed the action with a call.

Singer was first to act on a flop of {9-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} and led into Rice. Rice and Dwan both called. All three players checked the {6-Clubs} turn. The river was the {7-Diamonds}, putting three diamonds on board. Singer led out again, only to see Rice raise. Dwan quickly and quietly mucked his cards; Singer tanked for about 30 seconds before calling. Rice turned over a very strong holding -- {a-Clubs} {2-Spades} {a-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}, the nut flush and the nut low.

Singer couldn't beat either hand and is down to 6,300.

Did Someone Say There's a Basketball Game on Today?

With Game 7 between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers set to kick off in just a few hours, it's no surprise that it's one of the most overheard topics of conversation at the tables today. Whether it's Ivey talking prop bets or Celtics fans trying to razz Lakers fans, there's no doubt the energy in the room is going to pick up once the game starts.

Tough Table!

Table 321, along the center rail, is arguably the pro-heaviest draw in the whole room. Seat in order around the table are Erik Seidel (Seat 2), Mickey Appleman (Seat 4), Jon Turner (Seat 5), Miami John Cernuto (Seat 7) and Lex Veldhuis (Seat 8). Gail Malec may have blanched upon seeing that draw this morning. We're now 20 minutes into the level and Malec still hasn't made an appearance.

Milne Withers Under Ivey's Pressure

Hold'em

Facing Phil Ivey is intimidating for many players -- even when he's out of the blind. When he starts raising you, it's never a good thing. Ivey, sitting in the big blind, was the only player who called Marlon Milne's early-position raise. Ivey checked a {4-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} flop, then raised after Milne continued with a bet. Milne called that raise, then called again after the turn came {9-Hearts}. It was finally on the river {10-Spades} that Milne folded to Ivey's bet.

Kessler Starts with Bad Luck

Hold'em

Allen Kessler came into Day 2 as a Top 10 chip stack but suffered a small setback in the first orbit. He and short-stacked Jorge Crespo got into a pre-flop raising war, with Crespo calling all in after Kessler made the fourth raise. Kessler turned over the pre-flop nuts, {a-Hearts} {a-Clubs}, and was in great shape against {9-Diamonds} {7-Spades} -- especially after the flop came {3-Hearts} {a-Spades} {5-Hearts}. But the turn {6-Spades} filled one half of a running straight draw for Crespo, and the river {4-Clubs} filled the other half. Crespo made a 7-high straight to collect the pot and double up.
