Roberts Taking Over New Table

Brent Roberts' table broke, and he's enjoying his new seat much more without Ryan D'Angelo and Josh Goldstein to his left. Roberts raised preflop and got a call from the big blind. The flop fell {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and when checked to, Roberts bet 3,600. The big blind called, then bet out 5,200 after the {4-Spades} turn. Roberts calmly announced he was all in. It was another 27,000 for the big blind to call. He declined, and Roberts took the pot. He's up to 50,000 now.

Shamseddin Halved

Soheil Shamseddin was riding a big stack for most of the day but just lost about half of it in a big hand.

Shamseddin made a raise to 3,500 from the hijack only to have the cutoff re-raise to 10,000. Shamseddin called and the two were off to the flop.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Shamseddin checked to the cutoff, who made it 9,400 to go. Shamseddin called then bet 29,000 into the {q-Spades} on the turn. However, once the cutoff went all in, Shamseddin thought for some time before folding.

Shamseddin is down to 64,000 in chips

Ketteringham Krushed

Mark Ketteringham moved all in for about 15,000, and Sabyl Landrum flatted. The player behind her then reshipped for 37,000. Landrum called that as well. Ketteringham's {kx7x] were up against Landrum's little slick and the other player's pocket aces. Aces held, and Ketteringham hit the rail. Landrum is down to 13,000.

Carlson Joining the Leaders

Michael Carlson has built a stack of about 120,000 and just added a few more to his pile when he was facing a raise to 3,800 in the small blind. He three-bet to 6,500 and induced a fold from his opponent.

Carlson started the day with about 24,000 chips.

Tufat Getting Thinner

The under-the-gun player limped, and Andrew "Tufat" Teng overlimped from middle position. The cutoff and both blinds came along to see a {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop five-handed. Action checked to Tufat, who bet 2,300. The cutoff flat called, and after the blinds folded, the first limper called as well. The turn brought the {7-Clubs}, and the player first to act checked again. Tufat asked the cutoff for a count before betting 8,700. The cutoff quickly moved all in for just 3,900 more. The third guy folded, and Tufat called the extra chips.

"Same hand?" asked the all-in player as he showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for the flopped nut straight. Tufat could only shake his head and show {q-Spades}{7-Spades} for two pair. The {2-Hearts} on the river didn't fill Tufat's boat, and he fell to 38,000.

Four-Betting is the new Three-Betting

A player at David Sands' table had limped in, but folded after another player raised to 3,000 and Sands three-bet to 7,700. Once the limper was out of the way, the original raiser moved all in for 37,000 and Sands made the call.

Sands: {a-}{k-}
Opponent: {q-}{q-}

Sands' was no longer looking to pair his overcards after the flop of {q-}{9-}{10-} and after the turn and river bricked with Sands missing his straight-draw. Sands has now slipped to 70,000 chips.

Payouts Beckon for Becker

Mike Becker was in the big blind with 600 chips behind when he called us over. "I'm probably going to bust on this hand if you want to write about that." Action folded to Shawn Buchanan in the small blind, and he put Becker all in. Neither player had looked at their hands yet when they flipped them up. Becker's {j-Clubs}{6-Hearts} ahd Buchanan's {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts} crushed. The board came out {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{q-Spades}, and Becker more than doubled up. He jokingly celebrated the start of his big comeback with the table.

It didn't last too long though. The next hand, when it folded around to Buchanan on the button. He raised, and Becker went all in. The short stack wasn't able to survive two hands in a row, and he bid his table farewell on his way to the cashier.
