Troy, Lewis Chop It Up

"What? A chop? Man!"
"What? A chop? Man!"

Maxwell Troy completed for 25,000 only to have Melville Lewis two-bet to 50,000. Troy called that bet then led on fourth before smooth-calling fifth only to raise sixth and bet seventh with Lewis calling each time.

Troy: (X)(X) / {A-}{2-}{10-}{7-} / (X)
Lewis: (X)(X) / {7-}{9-}{6-}{A-} / (X)

Troy tabled his {6-}{3-}{2-} for a ten-seven low and Lewis tabled his {10-}{3-}{2-} for the exact same ten-seven low to see the pot chopped up.

Mikko Pispala Eliminated in 5th Place ($45,433)

Mikko Pispala - 5th place
Mikko Pispala - 5th place

Frank Kassela completed with a five up, and Mikko Pispala raised to two bets with a seven in the door. Kassela called. Pispala would be all in for 20,000 on fourth street.

Kassela called him down, and his board ran ({A-} {9-})/{5-} {Q-} {J-} {6-}/{8-} to five him a nine-eight-six. Pispala was drawing live to an eight by the time his sixth street card gave him a board of ({3-} {8-})/{7-} {7-} {5-} {9-}/(X), but he said, "Pair," after receiving his seventh card, and another {3-} sends him out the door with an inferior ninety-eight.

Mikko Pispala put on a good show today, and for the last three days, but he's out the door in fifth place, good for more than $45,000.

Pispala in Trouble

We caught up with the action on fifth street in this heads-up pot.

Frank Kassela: (X)(X)/{A-}{J-}{5-}{6-}/(X)
Mikko Pispala: (X)(X)/{2-}{Q-}{5-}{8-}/(X)

When we joined on fifth street, Kassela was betting and Pispala was raising. Kassela called the extra bet, and he led right back out on sixth street. Pispala called, and he was faced with one more Kassela bet on seventh street. He couldn't call, though, and he mucked his cards to leave himself on the very short stack.

Pispala Doubles

That ain't a face of someone just doubling!
That ain't a face of someone just doubling!

Mikko Pispala completed and Maxwell Troy called before Pispala lead on fourth street before Troy lead on fifth and sixth until Pispala was all in for his last 20,000.

Pispala: {9-}{2-} / {6-}{7-}{K-}{5-}
Troy: {6-}{4-} / {2-}{9-}{5-}{5-}

With Troy finding an {8-} on seventh and Pispala a {3-}, the Finn doubled through to 280,000 as Troy slipped to 500,000 in chips.

Troy Calls Down Pispala

We caught up with the action on fifth street as Maxwell Troy was betting his {9-}{7-}{10-} board. Mikko Pispala called with his board showing {3-}{2-}{2-}.

Pispala caught a {6-} on sixth street, and he bet it out. Troy paired his {9-}, and he made the call. On seventh street, Pispala fired again, and Troy made one last reluctant call. Pispala held his cards over the muck, waiting to see the hand that likely beat him.

Troy revealed his hand: ({8-} {7-} {5-}) {9-} {7-} {10-} {9-} and his ten-nine low was good enough to win the pot. He's up to 665,000 now, while Pispala has slipped down to 275,000.

Evil Dealer Hurts Kassela

Frank Kassela completed for 20,000 and Mikka Pispala called before leading on fourth, fifth and sixth street with Kassela calling him down.

Kassela: (X)(X) / {2-}{Q-}{6-}{K-} / (X)
Pispala: (X)(X) / {5-}{2-}{3-}{7-} / (X)

Kassela tabled his {10-}{5-}{3-} for a ten-six, but it would be Pispala's {10-}{9-}{5-} in the hole for a nine-seven low to collect the pot and move to 410,000 as Kassela slips to 290,000 in chips.

"Why you so evil?" asked Kassela in the direction of the dealer.

"I think he is fair" replied Pispala as he stacked all his chips.

Shchemelev Knows the Drill

Vladimir Shchemelev
Vladimir Shchemelev

Melville Lewis had the bring-in with a jack, and he called a completion from Vladimir Shchemelev and his ace up.

Lewis: (X)(X)/{J-}{7-}{5-}{6-}/(X)
Shchemelev: (X)(X)/{A-}{9-}{9-}{2-}/(X)

Shchemelev bet his lead on fourth street, and he called bets on fifth and sixth streets when Lewis picked up the betting lead. Lewis fired one more bet on seventh street, and a big grin crossed Shchemelev's face. He started mumbling to himself in Russian, enough that the floor had to warn him about the English-only rule. Shchemelev's smirk grew even bigger, and he plunked the call into the pot after about a minute.

Lewis turned over {2-}{7-}{5-} and threw his hands up in the air at his jack-low with two pair. Shchemelev had made a good call with {Q-}{5-}{4-}, and his ninety-five earns him the pot.

Shchemelev - 610,000
Lewis - 805,000

Sixth Street Bet for Troy

Vladimir Shchemelev completed to 20,000 only to have Maxwell Troy two-bet to 40,000.

Shchemelev called and led out on fourth and fifth street with Troy calling each time, until he chose to lead on sixth street to prompt a fold from Shchemelev.

Shchemelev: (X)(X) / {4-}{10-}{8-}{J-}
Troy: (X)(X) / {6-}{Q-}{7-}{4-}

With Shchemelev slipping to 360,000, Troy climbed to 640,000 in chips.
